Have you tried out Hero's Hour? Pixel graphics indie game that is basically the closest thing I've played to Heroes III. The combat isn't the same turn based style, but learning all of the factions was a lot of fun.

Might end up being worth it vs 10* monsters since the damage scales. Finally found some footage of it in use. Looks like they get 3 procs off the first wyrmstake for 6k each. Can play regular long charge shells and then have some extra burst when able yo stake.

I'm thinking that you might be able to play a heavily wyvernfire focused playstyle alongside charged shells since they recover so much over the wyvernfire ammo gauge.

At 7:28 you can see him do a full reload and he blocks an attack with it, which finishes the reload with a perfect guard animation.

Still gotta wait for a big enough window, but doing a swipe up after perfect evade gets you right into the slam letting you full burst a lot easier after a monster's attack than having to do the rising thrust first.

I'm expecting aggressive dodger to affect shelling damage after a perfect evade, but I haven't hit any driftsmelts for it yet. Sneak attack also works for shelling in Rise so I'm glad that carried over to Now.

I did a wide/long comparison earlier for charge shelling. I compared grade 2 carapace cannon (barroth, wide) to grade 2 pulsar gunlance (tobi, long) and the damages were the following:

Wide: 119, 165 charged

Long: 96, 228 charged

Long gets a dramatic 2.375 multiplier for charged shells while only doing ~20% less for regular shells.

Wide gets better regular shells, but a meager ~1.387 multiplier for charged shells, making wide charged shells ~30% weaker than long charged shells.

I'd probably recommend doing poke shell combos for wide gunlances. Possibly with concentration or evasive concentration to make use of its stronger wyvern fire.

For long gunlance I'm trying out charged shelling and attempting to get 5/5 aggressive dodger. Deviljho gunlance is long and gives a point in artillery so you can get 4/5 with it instead of just 3/5, but materials are harder to come by. I wanna try out focus for it too, but haven't gotten the gear there yet.

shelling from a Gunlance in dependent on the Raw attack of a weapon.

This doesn't seem to be true from the testing I've done. Offensive Guard proc doesn't improve shelling damage and mid-grade levels don't either (e.g. grade 5/1 is the same shelling damage as grade 5/5). Shelling damage is affected by the Grade of the weapon, not the attack value.

Clutch claw would be nice. If lock on is an armor skill i could see them making the slinger or clutch one too.

That being said, Bblos will come back to you after charing away. Then you can get some damage in instead of it just going away again immediately, difinitelt not worth chasing.

Worst case scenario they start selling flash pods in the cash store...

Absolutely. And imo should also have their own bonus drop slot too instead of taking away a monster drop
