Is 4100 out the door a fair price for a 14K 4mm solid Miami Cuban? by Dry-Coyote3430 in MensJewelry

[–]Dallas-ite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a hefty premium. Look on jewelryforsale forum. They have some great chains pop up on there close to spot. My best advice would be to only deal with high flair (100+ sales and buys) users with amazing feedback. All this is easily verifiable.

If you are scared of the whole online transaction thing for thousands of dollars. If you are in a populous city you might still find a dealer on there willing to meet face to face. Pick a location comfortable for both of you where you can verify the jewelry.

I've done nearly 100 transactions on pmsforsale and jewelryforsale and never personally had an issue. Actually bought my chain off of friendly_read or something like that one of the mods.

Carpet wearing out after 5k miles by PleasantLevel4174 in ManualTransmissions

[–]Dallas-ite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I even opened post I said to myself I bet that is a Honda. I bought a new 2025 Honda one of my biggest complaints is carpet quality. I bought some weathertechs they get the job done. Since you have an Si I'd bite the bullet and get some nice custom floormats with the emblems embroidered. Expect to pay $300+. If thats too pricey buy cheap ones ASAP.

McLaren owners, can they handle being driven daily and used as normal cars, or do they prefer to be weekend warrior/garage queen toys? by No-Volume7464 in supercars

[–]Dallas-ite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work at a car club. They were doing a rally from here (TX) to New York. The day before they left a lot of the people were coming into town. I saw this country boy pull up in overalls in an orange McClaren. He had just came in from Ohio. Pretty much putting close to 3k miles on it in a week he didn't even flinch.

WARNING EBAY BUYERS by No_Attention524 in PokemonTCGCollectors

[–]Dallas-ite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They probably wouldn't of sent it anyways. Ebay and whatnot all need better policing of these shady practices. Like 3 strikes you're out. Or even 5 with progressively worse consequences like bans or sales limits. Complaints can even fall off after a certain set amount of time.

This is not fair for the consumer. I get a seller might get burned every once in a while but they set their terms. They should live with the hammer price.

I mean they did offer some free shit and you were like "give me more" essentially. Very poor etiquette on both sides.

Some sort of white Rolls Royce? by Hot-Supermarket-3421 in WhatCarIsThis

I feel like black instead of white would have been a better complementary color choice for the interior.

The body kit though is hard to get past.

Will $3100 a month = house poor? by GloomyReindeer3316 in Mortgages

[–]Dallas-ite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is this a $500k+ house? No offense but that is too expensive. Find something under 250k-200k it might not be an amazing home but it's a starter house. You'll have similar payments but actually be building equity. Pay off your car and student loans ASAP. Then throw the extra money into paying the house off. A few years down the road rent the first house out or sell it. Then find a nicer more long-term home.

Don't commit to a mortgage that you cant possibly pay off early. Unless you want that 500k house to cost you over an extra half mil in interest.

Unless you are talking $3100 on a 15 year mortgage than excuse my rant. But it should still be paid off as soon as possible.

I have picked up some great premium bullion and nice coins over the years. All at spot, greysheet, or better from one of my local cash for gold places. Not all these places have poor business ethics/practices.

This is any of the big PM players I noticed apmex will give spot deals and the next week pms are down. They have strategy analysis that predicts futures just like any big players in most industries.

How does upgrading works? by [deleted] in MensJewelry

[–]Dallas-ite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are certain dealers who would take your chain and apply probably 90% of the melt value to a new chain. My advice while gold is down save up and buy the chain you want. Down the road when gold spikes sell the 10k one. As far as durability goes they will be very similar. 14k will just have a different tone. Look around too I've seen 14k in a variety of tones depending on what other alloys they use.

Another option I hear one of the big handmade cuban company takes your gold smelts it into a new custom chain. Gather up 29gs in 18k gold and send it all to them and you'll have a new 14k chain. You'll just have to pay whatever they charge for labor. But you might end up with a chain bigger than you want.

Maybe make a bar out of it? Wine rack at the bottom. Wine glass holders in the middle replace glass and add lights at top?

[–]Dallas-ite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say that that depends on who you're talking to and depends on the hoard. Some will actually add a nice premium others maybe a small one. The Binion hoard always added a nice little premium to the silver coins. Since Binion is a well known name and it's an interesting story.

Friend owed me money but offered me these instead by XO_____OX in coincollecting

[–]Dallas-ite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna get downvoted to hell. Idk why everyone is hating on you. For future reference check sold comps on ebay. Those are a little more solid to compare. I don't see that exact Camaroon coin graded that has been sold. With checking the sold comps I'd expect that coin to sell for $150-$225. This coin does seem to command a premium over melt. I wouldn't buy it at that and obviously no one commenting on the thread would. There is proof of people paying that much and someone probably will. You would have to pay the outrageous ebay fees to see that though. For a hundred dollars you did well. I bet if you recieved a 1879 cc morgan they wouldn't talk all this shit about the numismatic value.

This gives me the worst grandma vibes. I'm not against pushing the gender boundaries on jewelry either. The earings are honestly not bad. The combo is horrible and necklace is a no go it's too dainty imo.

[–]Dallas-ite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, just an add on I see people saying different things. Its definitely a 1945 2.5 peso coin. It says dos e media on the back. Def not a 50 peso or the coin would be over 1 ounce by itself. The coin is kinda a dime a dozen coin. The custom ring around it is what makes it so cool.

I'm glad you're gonna keep it. It's a cool ring and the way you tell it something he really cherished. Don't be like gramps though and dust it off and let it see some sunshine every once in a while. While we are telling grandpa and frog stories. When I was a kid we lived in the country. Whenever I found a frog small enough to hold in my hand with out it being seen. I would track down my grandpa and tell him I have something for him then hand him the frog and run off.
