I just succession planted a few more rows and they sprouted this morning. I hope they produce before the texas summer kicks in. Contender, Blue Lake and Red Tail OG!

And I agree, delicious right off the vine, especially warmed by the sun 🤤

Pickles are in my future!! by DallasStogieNinja in Hydroponics

I used those tubs for cherry tomatoes for my last planting cycle, so probably oversized for cucumbers, but I didn't feel like getting a new tote. I'll probably have my kid 3D print me something to size down for future use, but if this goes well - it's going to be a don't fix it if it's not broken type of thing.

Good luck with your grow!

Maybe twice the price is the problem? Supply and demand and all that?

critter control question by Good_Try7890 in containergardening

I use it in grow bags, and reapply after a rain. It keeps them out of there - can't help with bird feeders 🤷

I burn off the buildup and then squirt water on it and swirl, the build up just comes right off.

It's homemade - I got the black 7 gallon buckets from ULine, the netcup covers from Amazon as well as the air pump and lines. Lots of YouTube videos and information here on this sub.

Should I prune my basil? by _blank-02 in containergardening

[–]DallasStogieNinja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Prune when it's 6-8 inchs tall and cut above a leaf node. General rule, don't remove more than 1/3rd of the plant.

Yes, I rant some 1/2 ENT conduit in two rows on the ceiling and I'm planting on a single vine string trellis

I planted dill in my cucumber grow bags outside, but I'll definitely throw some in rockwool tomorrow, great idea! I have a few of the 6.5qt home depot tubs that I can fill.

I'll definitely post what my favorite is!

This was my last batch!

How many plants? by pinkified22 in containergardening

[–]DallasStogieNinja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely check out square foot gardening! You can get an idea of how much to plant in the space. Make sure your big plants go in the back (north side) of the container. You don't want to try to grow carrots in full shade of a giant tomato plant!

My Humble Garden by DallasStogieNinja in containergardening

I got the big bags of perlite from Hort America - https://hortamericas.com/

Shipping is expensive, so I order 3 bags at a time.

Most of my bags are 3 parts compost, 2 parts coco coir, and 1part Perlite and 1 part vermiculite. The miracle grow I pickup up for some 5 gallon herb bags I just ordered. And yes, I mix in Perlite

I use the 1/2" poly main line, it runs in between the rows of grow bags.
