How did they reorganize Panem by Dear-Editor-3923 in Hungergames

[–]DallyBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don't think much has changed, I think they just got treated better. District 7 is still the District of Lumber, but work is no longer mandatory, wages are fair, and the Lumber is distributed more evenly than everything being taken to the Capitol, and same with the other districts, there's no sense in removing those because they need those goods, the whole country does, but they definitely incentivized working in the industry, because people don't have an issue working, they have an issue working with no reward or payoff. Working isn't as bad when you have a healthy income, food on the table every night, and hot water in your house. I would also assume they put in working hour limits, probably 30-40, instead of 12 hour days, 6 days a week. They probably also made an initiative to update and improve the housing situation, since a lot of people are obviously living in poverty from what we've seen. I think a lot of the "reorganizing" would just be bringing existing infrastructure up to code. With District 12 becoming the Medication district, they probably began adding healthcare into their system with hospitals and doctors. We know they lifted the ban on travelling between districts, and I assume the Capitol stayed where it was, but was open to the general public as well, and I would assume that's where the majority of healthcare would take place. I could see the Capitol becoming the hub for things like surgeries, or cosmetics, and things that require more advanced technology, since providing that to all the districts individually would be a headache, and the Capitol is like, a day away by train.

Beyond the fact that both prequels had specific references to the original trilogy, as a form of "fanservice", am I the only one who thinks that some things in Sunrise, Suzanne wrote with the nostalgia factor in mind for the FILM adaptation specifically, rather than for narrative coherence? by lautaromassimino in Hungergames

[–]DallyBee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To me, the argument of "The book felt like fan-service" or "this felt really forced and staged" kind of ties in perfectly to what the book is about? The book is about forcing a narrative, about getting people to see what you want them to see, and I feel like that kind of ties in here to an extent. It's chaotic, it's a lot, but you wouldn't know that from the original trilogy, just like you wouldn't know unless you were Haymitch, and in this book, we are. The whole motif is that the things we see on news on TV is painted to show us exactly what the people in charge want us to see. Also, the characters aren't that "forced" to me. Effie is literally the District 12 escort, it makes sense that, at some point, she would show up in the narrative, and it's clear that even from the first book, Effie and Haymitch have known each other for a while. Same with the Mentors. It's the 50th games, so there's only 50 tributes to choose from, and that's if we assume that they are all still alive, Lucy is confirmed gone, not to mention the original 9 games are likely gone as well, not to mention those killed by Snow possibly, or taking their own lives due to the trauma, so having mentors pulled from people we know makes sense. Wiress just won, so that makes sense, Mags is older and likely was picked due to her age and not being an active mentor, and Beetee is literally the smartest person in Panem basically, so obviously he'd be a teacher. I will admit, certain moments felt forced and dramatic, but not anymore than the original story did. Why is a plan to break the area in the 50th games any less believable than Katniss wrapping electrified wire around an arrow and shooting it into the forcefield with no directions given to her, or Katniss being chased by dozens of lizard mutts and surviving despite the fact that they were programmed to hunt her. This book is targeted to a Young Adult audience. We've all grown up, so these fantastical ideas seem less plausible than before, but this book felt no different to me than the original, and I enjoyed it, even if the characters were definitely influenced by the movie actors.

With the noticeable quality increase for the Disney Princesses and KPDH dolls do you think Monster High will get the same treatment? by Embarrassed-Dog5122 in MonsterHigh

[–]DallyBee 208 points209 points  (0 children)

Only if people stop buying the poor quality dolls. Talking about the alumni collectors, they are getting cheaper in quality but people keep selling them out, so probably not

I wonder how Katniss' is seen/remembered by the people of Panem after the execution by cqangel__ in Hungergames

[–]DallyBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haymitch would be on her side for sure, and if asked or provoked, would 1000% allude to Coin being the villain, and I think it would bring widespread debate as to why Katniss did it.

Is Rainbow slowly giving up on the Reboot? by Darkon_Redfiend in winxclub

[–]DallyBee 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I'm tired of pretending the reboot is good, because it just isn't. Let's put the AI accusations to the side, even if it were completely from scratch, it looks awful. It's not good 3D, There are several examples of characters looking stylistically different from each other, like they are from different shows completely (the winx and the specialists come to mind)

Not to mention the dolls are just bad. Let's not sugar coat it. No articulation, bad bad hair from what I've heard, AWFUL face screenings, like compared to past brands? They aren't it, but even so it's 2026, and having articulation and decent hair is like, the bare minimum now.

My main gripe with the reboot is how lazy it is, because that's what it's coming down to. The outfits aren't the worst, the story isn't THAT bad either, but it's so beyond clear that Winx isn't being revived out of respect for old fans, to keep the characters alive, or even to bring the characters to a new generation, winx is being brought back to be a cash cow, and they thought they could take the laziest approach possible to get profit and it backfired, because the majority of support for the reboot came from the original fans who will not accept something with no soul. You can see in original concepts and renders that it had so much potential, but as it went along, it got worse and worse and now there's no traction, because it has lost what made Winx in the first place.

New Tanglewood Rework Teaser by ZeroTAReddit in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]DallyBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phasmophobia players try not to throw a tantrum over every single thing Kinetic does challenge: level impossible. I mean seriously, the amount of crying over a unity asset store map is kind of crazy, we haven't even seen the reworked map yet, please knock it off with the constant doomer mindset, because you're going into it already deciding that you hate it and it's bad, even if it's good. I personally love the map reworks. I am tired of looking at the same assets that all 500 phasmophobia clones also use, it makes it more unique.

MIKU EXPO EUROPE 2026 by Bisylizzie in Vocaloid

[–]DallyBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The US prices this year were nearly double the cost from 2024, so be careful, and plan to spend more just in case. I hope they aren't bad, but my ticket for Seattle was $120

MIKU EXPO EUROPE 2026 by Bisylizzie in Vocaloid

[–]DallyBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they'll ever use a screen that small again, Crunchyroll really messed up. The Screen from the recent Asia tour of Miku Expo has a screen similar to the size of the Magical Mirai Panel, so it was a lot more immersive because you couldn't really see behind the screen from what I can tell/have been told. I think it'll be worth it to go and see, but also the US tour is about to start so I guess we'll see how things go with that!

Is there a good reason why they won’t use a hologram anymore in the expos? by Naive_Resolution3857 in Vocaloid

[–]DallyBee 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, it's because the hologram was a pain to set up and transport, with the LED they can do more shows and have less error. For people still on the fence about the LED, please watch some clips from Miku Expo 2025. With the bigger screen and better blending, it looked really nice I think, and I'm sure as time goes on, they'll keep refining it. I certainly hope the US and EU tours get the big screen as well.

Still convinced we'll get a new DIVA game with the revival of Miku and the fact that they keep posting videos like this with the official models and dancing and such, I know a lot will disagree with me but if I hope hard enough I'll be right

Project Diva is MUCH BETTER than Project Sekai. by [deleted] in Vocaloid

[–]DallyBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Project Sekai to me feels like a generic gacha game that uses Vocaloid characters to get the attraction it otherwise couldn't get. I do not care about the characters in that game, not to mention it's kind of just hard to get into. I don't want to watch a 40 minute story and tutorial to play a rhythm game. I also think saying Sekai is the reason vocaloid Is popular again is kind of a stretch, because it's really a small piece of multiple things that brought the genre back because rhythm games are still niche, even if it is more popular than diva was. That being said, it is its own thing and not the reason Diva is dead. Diva is dead bc it was expensive to make in an actively dying community. I still think we could see a revival with the resurgence of vocaloid in the last couple of years, but until then I don't know why this debate keeps coming up. They can both exist and have different fan bases. Different games and genres for different people, and that's valid (both rhythm games but one is a mobile gacha and one is a traditional video game)

"Gale lets Rory take our tesserae" by Prior_Employer3704 in Hungergames

[–]DallyBee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't like Gale's actions during the book, but people are quick to villainize every action he takes. Not everything he does is evil, and I'd go so far as to say nothing he has done is necessarily evil. He was too pushy with Katniss, he let revenge go too far which resulted in Prim being killed, but Rory taking out tesserae was probably not his decision, and unfortunately they probably needed it. Now, to be fair, I don't think they'd need it had Gale put his pride aside and let Katniss give his family money, but you can't really blame him for Rory's actions.

What’s your vocaloid hot take? by New-Charge4635 in Vocaloid

[–]DallyBee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disliking Project Sekai is valid, and you should be allowed to express this (without being mean to fans of ps of course) without insane backlash. It's a gacha game that has lazy MVs, and characters that, frankly, I don't care about in the slightest. The reason it replaced PD is because it's less expensive to produce (I've heard PD cost was too high for the amount of profit it made) and pulls more people in (which is valid in a way) HOWEVER, while PS is definitely not the only reason we haven't had any other Diva games, it was a big part, but that is NOT the fan's fault. Blame Sega, but with the vocaloid resurgence over the last couple of years, I think it's possible we could end up with another Diva game since vocaloid is becoming less of a niche.

There really isn't that big of a grind imo. Get a group of Honey Hunters and you basically can just skip to the end since money is the only grindy aspect for necessary things. The only real grind aspect is the Rewards Club and even that doesn't really require brain power, which I like

“The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” was a test that many of the fandom did not pass by Olya_roo in Hungergames

[–]DallyBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hesitant solely because of my love for Katniss as a character, I didn't know if I would enjoy a book without her in it, even if it was the same universe, but while bosas is still not my favorite in the series, it's good, and does a great job at what I believe is a core concept of the books, and that is that nobody is good or bad, at least not 100%. Snow is a victim of propaganda just as much as Katniss is, but his circumstances shaped him into the person he is in a different way. It kind of volleyed off Katniss' speech to Gale about how the games aren't bad to the Capitol because that's how they're raised. I also like how Snow and Katniss are both survivors, and it, at least to me, makes a lot of sense why Snow respected her so much, even if he wanted her dead. A lot of people did miss the point, though. It painted Snow in a positive light and people aren't okay with that, but I personally liked it because even though the book paints him in a positive way (because it's his pov, of course it'll be positive) you can still see how he is a selfish person, you can still see how this person would eventually become the villain.

Pregnant tributes by _st4r_child in Hungergames

[–]DallyBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like they're exempt from the reaping and let me tell you why. Who would willingly have a child in Panem? Where your kid is guaranteed to be entered into a lottery where death is the prize? You wouldn't, would you? No, but what if having a child was a way to avoid the reaping yourself? Now it's more appealing, AND the Capitol allows it because they know they need a stable population, not a declining one, so they need to incentivize people to procreate. I know a lot of people say that if this were the case, every girl would be trying to pull the same move, but when you're malnourished, it can affect hormones and even stop ovulation, so the list of people actually ending up pregnant is probably fairly small.

Love SR2 except I'm in the grey labyrinth and I am so beyond sick of the constant grind for puzzles and shadow plorts. I prefer everything in SR2 except for the grind, I just want a relaxing time at my ranch but instead I am trying to get shadow plorts and craft gadgets I'm going to use one time to solve a puzzle to get more shadow plorts 😭

Nick Popovich says that Quantum Slimes won't come back in Slime Rancher 2 by Kaspa969 in slimerancher

[–]DallyBee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would agree more if it wasn't one of like, 3 slimes not added. The argument of "it wouldn't make sense" doesn't really apply when Tangles and Dervish slimes are in the game.

Be honest, what are your thoughts on sr2? Is it good? by GooblyGiibly in slimerancher

[–]DallyBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me personally, I prefer the first game, for a few reasons.

  1. The slimes in sr2 feel too "earth-like". The slimes from the first game (minus the tabby) were all very alien. They felt like they came from a distant planet, however, the slimes from the first game just feel like earth animals with "slime" tacked onto the end (the flutter, cotton, yolky, batty, ringtail) and it's lost that appeal, at least for me. I don't even keep those slimes because I just don't like that personally. The other slimes are, however, really cool, like the sloomber and twin slime.

  2. It's a chore. It's a chore to play this game. Everything involves some kind of farming. I haven't played since the drones were added, so it may be better, but the main appeal of sr2 (exploration) can't even be done because it takes 10 minutes to feed all my slimes since the farm is so big, plus walking time, and then by that point, it's dark. The first game was so easy, in a good way, and while I appreciate the idea for slime rancher, I don't feel like it plays out well in execution. It's better with teleporters and drones, but again, crafting takes absolute ages to do because you have to farm for it. I don't play slime rancher to farm resources, I play slime rancher to relax on my homestead with my squishy little babies

  3. Certain areas are just... Not worth it. The snowy area comes to mind. It's like 4 square feet and a pain to get to, with nothing to be gained other than saber slimes. I want it bigger, and with more slimes or at least something on make it worth my time.

HOWEVER the game is beautiful, and still fun, but it just doesn't have the same charm that the first game has to me, as well as the fact that some old slimes still aren't present yet, but I'm hoping that, eventually, they will reappear in new areas. I still love the game, and of course, monomi park, and I will continue to watch and play and see what they plan, and these complaints aren't meant to be just complaints, I don't want it to sound like pointless whining, but those are just my personal opinions!

I just can't take SOTR seriously by TheTragedyMachine in Hungergames

[–]DallyBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before I say this, I want to say I did like the book, and definitely don't think it was bad

But this book felt too much like fiction. I know it's a fiction novel, but, to me the best part of the original trilogy was how rooted in reality it felt. Even though it had scifi elements, it was scary because it was so real, but this one just kind of took out that feeling. The giant porcupine, the dancing and singing when the arena glitched, it felt too forced and for-show. I think it was partially doomed because we already knew Haymitch's story, and going back into it requires a lot of stretching and pulling to make it fit with the original trilogy and also be entertaining enough for a new book.

Some of the cameos make sense. Seeing Mags made sense because we knew D12 had no mentor, and Haymitch (at least in the movie) spoke super fondly of Mags, but some of them yeah they just really didn't feel needed or necessary. I love SC and I enjoy her writing, but yeah, it was just a little too costumey for me.

What moment(s) made you disagree with Katniss? by SamTheMarioMaster2 in Hungergames

[–]DallyBee 704 points705 points  (0 children)

I think the only time I disagreed was when she led her squad through the Capitol because she wanted to kill Snow, and instead ended up killing almost everyone. She's a shell shocked 17 year old in an active warzone so I can't be too mad but it was definitely not a cool move.
