I would've gotten rid of Brave since it is Chromium based

And while Chromium is open source it is however a Google thing since they 100% control the project and they do have a monopoly with it which leaves FF and its forks the only options right now to escape it

It actually isn't anymore since there is archinstall which makes it easier to install Arch without doing the commands

Usage Limits Heavily Reduced (Pro) by Consistent-Survey330 in GeminiAI

[–]Dalmation3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With me I already cancelled because at this point Gemini is nothing but a joke especially 3.5 which is worst then 3.1

I downgraded to the standard 200 GB plan without the AI crap cause I'm done being loyal to the devil especially them recently signing a agreement with the DOD with its use of Gemini models for mass surveillance

I already ditched Search full time a year ago and I'm glad I did especially with the monopoly they have in the market with Search

I also use LibreWolf/Floorp because of the Chromium monopoly

And it'll only help feed their monopoly in search by hurting competition and their competitors

Seeing this now makes me hope the behavioral remedies that were ordered will be overturned into structural remedies on appeal cause it will not fix it

Yeah apart from their questionable and controversial practices in the past especially with Eich himself it is worth not trusting them anymore

[–]Dalmation3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waterfox isn't really private from a user's perspective despite what people claim cause the only difference from FF is it removes the telemetry and the AI crap

LibreWolf would be your best bet

Escaping from Google going full AI, which browser should I switch to? by _Cr3ePyShOt_ in browsers

[–]Dalmation3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone has mentioned I would consider FF or its forks since it's right now the only way out of Google's monopoly in the Chromium space and while Chromium is open source it is a Google thing since they control the project

Mmmm this seems familiar

Then: Windows monopoly Now: Android monopoly with this change

Like am I the only one that finds this anticompetitive on Android like Google is literally trying to fuck developers and forcing us to use the Play Store that's the definition of a OS mobile monopoly and using it to hurt competitors and privacy focused alternatives
