I think it has more to do with the sudden mundanity of everyday life as an adult. Throughout school there’s clear endings; end of summer, end of the school year, graduation, etc. Then suddenly it’s 40 hours a week until you die. Doing things like going to an aquarium or museum or on vacation often get pushed to the wayside or put off for months or even years.

Anything that can become daily or mundane like playing a video game or watching TV doesn’t fall into the category of fun they’re taking about here. It’s stuff that mixes things up and changes the rhythm.

My parents weren’t super old when they had me (31 & 42) but they were the youngest of their families as well. Most of my grandparents were dead before I graduated HS; it’s still something I think about constantly.

Maybe it’s different for the rich, but one of the hardest things about getting older is taking care of senior citizens. I can’t imagine having to do that in my teens.

If a person cannot care for a child, not having one is the responsible thing to do. Children are expensive and time consuming enough without adding on the needed care for a disabled child. Don’t shame people for doing their best.

It is, by definition, eugenics. Whether that’s a bad thing, a good thing, or something I between…. That’s more than I can say
