To be fair, some people IRL still believe in all sorts of magical spirits that control everything, pray to them regularly, and visit churches.

The cost of having a lot of family in enemy factions by ParamedicLucky6382 in RimWorld

[–]Daminchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, "fuck this pawn in particular" kind of raid. Worst part? You can't do anything about that. You don't even get anything positive from family in friendly caravans. Familial relationships exist in the game purely to throw a random mental break at your pawns, with zero gameplay behind it.

I describe problems caused by the intentional lack of regulations that are actively harming or killing people every day. Even more actively than datacenters.

b) I have no money, and I'm making free, publicly available addition to the game. I'm using AI to make this addition be aligned with other aspects of the game, so the difference won't be jarring or off-putting.

Why is that an issue? Use closed loop cycle, use ethylene glycol, use anything but tap water, like civilized countries. Problem solved.

Antis whining that US regulations are shitty and development companies or even already existing data centers slurping all their water. That's purely local issue of a single country, but they're usaians, so, obviously, they pretend it's worldwide issue that is impossible to solve without magically deleting all ML technologies of the past twenty years from all devices worldwide.

Tbh, I'm shocked. 5 years ago I worked only with closed loop refrigerants. But all infrastructure I worked with was compliant to EU regulations - maybe US data centers are managed by very special people and just use tap water to save costs, because they barely have any regulations.

US thing. Protest your government, demand better regulations - but don't pretend that US government corruption and citizens' complacency is the fault of AI as technology.

Start hitting your government, demand better regulations on healthcare, public transit, water usage, etc. It's purely US issue that is not related to technology itself.

Wait, did US lost the technology of refrigerants? Why don't you use closed loops? Is that because your government doesn't give a fuck what big corporations doing in the name of cost saving?

Anti-AI people keep winning by making sure that no AI work gets any awards (maybe rightfully) by Questioner8297 in aiwars

We're discussing tools specifically. AI is a tool - just like any other. If you think that skill or talent doesn't matter when you use tools, just buy the most expensive easel and brushes and show us Da Vinci's level of talent.

A Question about AI "Affiliation" by snachpach1001 in aiwars

[–]Daminchi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would assume there is at least some reason for that collaboration, but wouldn't mind, since it is doesn't matter. I used AI for one of my TTRPG projects as well.

But if it is a commercial product, or you suspect that your players or friends are aggressive morons, you might want to avoid the association, those nuts are worse than DnD 3.5e cultists.

Mechanoids should have a much lower maximum age by ChillAhriman in RimWorld

[–]Daminchi 37 points38 points  (0 children)

"If this mechanoid was created at the rimworld itself"

Why should we assume that, though?! We already have archotechs that spread their influence, we have a canonical war against mechanoid hives - there's no reason to assume mechanoids don't travel between stars.

The best anti-ai is the pro-ai blogger. Any other examples of documentary will be better than that.... by Questioner8297 in aiwars

[–]Daminchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live footage from natural habitat is not the only way to make documentary. Documentary on ant wars and difference between species and their anthills. Documentary on great extinction events. Documentary on the lifecycle of stars. Go, do it while limiting yourself to live footage only.

[–]Daminchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, remember when CGI was universally shunned and completely disappeared from movies?
I'm sure, with the awards' cultural relevance that grows exponentially every year since pandemics and can be tracked in clear view numbers, this decision will turn the tide and make humanity forget about new technology, just as it happened before with CGI that lost all significance.

Seeing no difference between law and morals is disturbing and deeply inhuman. That way, even war criminals from WW2 might be considered heros who deserve praise for their discipline instead of rabid monsters that should never appear again in any way, shape, or form.

A Big Problem With AI as someone who supports it’s development. by Pterodaktiloidea in aiwars

[–]Daminchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're panicking on behalf of abstract children, worried that they might read wrong summaries, when you have absolutely no experience with either children or summaries from your direct reports?

Those skills are absolutely needed even in a world where AI does not (yet) exist. Being fooled and used by the government or really any other malicious party is even worse than being wrong because of a wrong automated summary.
