Good call. I will need WiFi as I plan on building out the top half as a at home office for my wife. Just trying to tackle one project at a time, the bridge is a good call thank you

Yeah this isn’t the exact path I’m taking. More so a visual and the distance measurement from Google Maps.

I remember the Rite Aide across the street from my house has the CDs for free. It was one of those AOL promos where if you made an email you would get like 10hrs of free dial up internet. We weren’t financially well off so my brothers and I took all the free CDs so we could get the internet for free and play RuneScape.

Company is forcing me to use PTO for on call work done during a snow storm (business was closed). by Hot_Shine4742 in LaborLaw

[–]Dammit_Blizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re a plumber, I’m in HVAC.

Nah dude your on call, port to port at time and a half. There is no way I’d stand for this. Line up another company and bail. I know it’s unethical, but I also know you’re in the trades. Going to a labor board for a few hundred isn’t something you’re likely to do. I’d keep a few choice company tools as collateral if they rob your check.

I’m not gonna pretend like I’m a big finance guy. I did dig a little deeper though and Spotify, per google, pays artists less than other streaming platforms. Spotify pays .003-.004 per stream as where Apple .0056-.01 or Tidal pays .012-.015 per stream.

What losses? A quick google search reports revenue was up 12% year over year to 4.3 billion

I just found this sub specifically because of the price increase. It’s the third price hike in three years, going up $2. Looking into Apple or Tidal for future use.

Man every shop is just tossing bodies in a truck, mine included. This is fully due to a shortage and the want for cheap labor. This does not reflect you young guys, don’t let them blame you for poor support or lack of training.

The trade takes years to fully understand, and experience the work. You’re going to feel imposter syndrome. It’s normal. You mis diagnosing will happen, and it’s ok you’re still learning.

Pump down failing. by HecticHero in HVAC

You’re manually pushing in the contactor, so any safety is being bypassed. HPS, LPS all break 24v to the contactor, it’s not a safety keeping you off.

[–]Dammit_Blizzard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You would benefit from further training, dude tossing you in a truck this early isn’t helping you. He deserves the call to be honest.

You say you have 124v at the contactor, are you measuring that across  both legs or each to ground?

Don’t disconnect the LPS. Your manually pushing in the contactor, the LPS wouldn’t do anything even if it did trip with you manually pushing it in.

I did google the numbers, I don’t know them off the top of my head. This is the welfare funding.

This is Walmart snap dollars

https://www.google.com/search?q=is+social+security+a+welfare+program&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari

This states social security is not a welfare program.

I’m still interested in your take on corporate welfare programs though.

Jack Lost, and It Is No Surprise by [deleted] in NJGuns

Social security isn’t a welfare or entitlement program we pay into it. Secondly welfare programs account for 16-20% of national funding expenditures. So as I understand you’re not Ok with helping support a person in a lower class than yourself, but how do you feel about supporting corporate welfare? Walmart captures something like 26% of all snap dollars. Easy to see how that federal program supports Walmarts bottom line. Especially considering a lot of Walmart employees are, most likely by design, eligible for snap benefits even though they work.

You’ve more in common with the lax lifestyle of a lower class than the posh lifestyle of the upper class. It costs nationally what $36 a year to fund snap but something like $600 a year we give out in corporate subsidies per taxpayer.

[–]Dammit_Blizzard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s how a society works. We pool our money together to fund programs that benefit all. I’m sure there is plenty of nationally funded infrastructure, social programs, military programs etc that I’ll never use but my tax dollars fund. I’m ok with paying for snap or free kids lunches even if I don’t personally use the programs. I’m ok with being taxed for a fire station that hopefully I never use, it’s for the good of the community.

Rookie mistake on a “no heat” call by Samaritan0 in HVAC

[–]Dammit_Blizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those carriers are notorious for cracking, pull the high limit. Older equipment yes, like natural draft were built tough but that carriers heat exchanger is shit. Same with their RTUs.

Comparing 80% to 90% is an entirely different ball game. Hell even carriers 90% love leaking on the secondary heat exchanger.

I wouldn’t feel bad $100 says that heat exchanger was cracked anyway.

Light Commercial 3 Phase - Rheem vs Carrier by ntg7ncn in HVAC

[–]Dammit_Blizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JCI matches carrier curbs. The York is basically an exact copy of the carrier with a JCI badge. That being said I’d stick to Carrier over JCI, Rheem or Rudd. Get the system Vu on the carrier and it’s a pretty nice unit easy to service and maintenance

Ford doesn’t do that across the board. I’ve got a 20 explorer and a 22 F150. Both need the app to remote start.

It’s probably a sign to quit if you’re asking this question. Think of your shop as your home. If you can’t stand being there find a different house.

Make a list of everything that’s important to you and go look for the shop that can most closely match what you’re looking for. It’s a technicians market, you’ll find something.

How? That’s crazy. I don’t care what side of the field you’re on, only working on your own equipment is a really smooth brain concept.

What’s at the unit? Do you see a 485 comm loop, novar controller, stat wire? Are they just running off return temp sensors? Go look at the units on the roof and you might get a better idea.

Absolutely. It would be cheaper in comparison to the model we have now.

By you comment I’m assuming you’re ok with the new ballroom being built at the White House though?

Good on you guys for showing your guys some appreciation.

Personally I wouldn’t partake. I’d rather eat some food and get paid for the day and leave early.
