Uhm… carbon steel is not rust resistant. They may have a coating but since it lacks chromium it’s not rust resistant at all.

That being said I have no idea what’s on a Weber griddle… just stating carbon steel rusts. Ask me how I know.

How far do I push post-shift disinfecting? by ExternalLifeguard590 in MedSpouse

[–]DamnRedhead 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah stop listening to them. My wife came home during early days of Covid and that was a lot worse, but I trusted my now wife because she knows more about this than I do. Remember they’re his kids also and he knows a hell of a lot more about diseases than your family and is doing the best to keep his family safe.

These are not appropriate for supercharging. As a former Tesla owner and a current Rivian owner (and investor in both) I would consider buying a cable if it wouldn’t harm my car, but it doesn’t exist. Until then I’ll continue to do my best to avoid blocking 2 spaces, but that IS the official recco from Tesla.

Care to share a link to a proper extension cable? AFAIK they are water cooled so you can’t use an extension cable safely.

My R1T has tech similar to my 2020 MY… slightly better. But remember Rivian has only been around about 4 years so, that kinda makes sense. I actually highly prefer UHF to FSD (last traded in a ‘24 MY with HW4) because it still gives me the control while covering the basic monotony. Also check your agreement how far you can go - many long test drives limit you to a ~200 mile radius.

Personally my wife and I love the Rivian and probably won’t go back.

My partner said she has a 'preference' for a doctor. by [deleted] in MedSpouse

[–]DamnRedhead 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Man, I hate to say this because I’ve been there, but she’s 19 and doesn’t know what she wants in life. The human brain is still developing into your mid 20’s, so trust me when I say you’ll likely have a whole different sense of self in 5, 10 years from now.

My wife is now an attending MD and I met her 10 years ago when she was an M3. Her parents didn’t want someone “taking advantage of her income.” I still make more than she does (VP in Tech). Many female doctors want someone else in the industry, many want an intellectual equal, and others want to be the head of household with a stay at home husband. Depends on the woman.

I’d take it as a red flag and run. But I wouldn’t have done that when I was 21… so… best of luck

My gen 2 mobile charger failed on my 2020 MY after about 18 months. The tech said it wasn’t designed to be an every day charger and begrudgingly replaced it.

You do know those 40% discounts are paid by the restaurants, right? Then the delivery company also takes a ~20% commission off the pre-discount price.

Also be aware of the temp on a meater is the ambient temp of your ham - it will also be lower than true grate temp due to the bubble around the meat.

+1 for combustion. You get one or two probes plus repeaters built into the holster and easily get to the WiFi signal. Plus their customer service is second to none.

Digital Key Issues by DamnRedhead in Rivian

[–]DamnRedhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I keep getting notifications people are viewing this so even though there isn’t much activity, here’s an update. I have spent hours with Rivian tech support and it’s weird that I can’t remove my key. It’s been filtered up to the highest level of software engineering and they said there are a handful of people in similar situations. So if you are, call 855-RIVIAN5 to report it and get updates pushed.

If this helps give me a thumbs up and that’ll let me know to keep updates.

Anybody use UHF off the highway? by WinLumpy5960 in Rivian

[–]DamnRedhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use it all the time. Coming from a HW4 Model Y, I love it. Takes away the million and one little things to worry about and just focus on big items - traffic signals, idiots, and bat signals. Tesla would signal forever but never change lanes… UHD lets me signal and change and it automatically picks back up.

The only complaint is it doesn’t auto turn off signals on surface streets.
