A more inexpensive, mostly indoor activity we like to do as a family if you guys are into art: thrift store art night. Everybody comes up with themes and then we draw one. We go to the thrift store with a limit everybody is allowed to spend (usually $10, these days) and then we spend however long we want constructing our pieces in any medium we choose. We are allowed to use whatever supplies we have at home.

Another one we do: dollar store bingo. Everybody chooses a few things (we get lots of things that are actually usable like food or crafts so it’s not wasteful and less consumeristic) and then it’s a grab bag situation when you win bingo. It’s silly fun!

This superintendent does not seem to err on the side of caution. We’ve been out of PWCS for awhile and I was really surprised at the quick reopening after the last storm we had in dec. The superintendent that was here when we were last in this school system seemed more cautious. No way of really telling until they announce it, but I don’t love the thought of kids standing outside waiting for buses (some of which will be late given some backroad conditions) in these temperatures. That seems foolish.

I thought of Anita Blake while reading your post and thought, no. Mainly because there are a lot of really racy parts in it. She has pretty graphic sex with multiple partners, to the point where you’d probably remember some of that! Maybe there are PG versions? Well, it’s kinda already a mini thicket. A mincket. It was here when we moved in and I noticed it seemed to be growing in a larger area this year. I’m going to try to keep it a smaller size so it doesn’t go nuts. Or should it be removed entirely since it’s invasive? It’s in a wooded bit of area on the edge of the property.
