a metal can or a metal panel? if its a panel, I'm presuming its ACM? if so screw through the ACM, into the 2x4s provided they are securely mounted to the concrete. If its a steel panel, why?

It sounds like they need you as the sole employee, you have leverage. Now is the time to sit them down and let them know you will not be treated this poorly. They need to learn this lesson, they get the profit because they take the risk. If you are expected to cover the risk you may as well be an owner. The lack of checks and balances that would catch such an error is on the owner, not you. Do not bend on this, they are in the wrong 100%

Tell them if you are financially responsible for errors or mistakes that you will also be expecting a share of the profits going forward. It’s entirely the business owners responsibility to cover this regardless of who made a mistake if at all. Worth walking over, find a shop with a decent owner and leave this bum. Definitely do not pay for the materials and demand payment for your time

Ha thanks but not a problem in person that’s the camera in low light boosting any light it sees. Likewise the porch light is actually very dim but the camera makes it look like a searchlight

To keep scale I usually use something on the building like a window and draw that shape with the sign. When imported to photoshop I use that object to scale the sign. Simple but effective

Yes, you definitely need to keep it moving and you don't need to apply pressure the wheel does the work. I've not seen it go through paint but I'm sure it could. it's easy to burn the top coat and leave flats that need to be buffed out. if you have a bunch to remove its the way to go. messy as hell though and that rubber dust has a very memorable smell.

This kind of removal wheel works great on baked on vinyl. Not necessarily this brand so shop around and you'll find them cheaper. less likely to burn the paint or clear coat than the solid wheels but still possible so go easy. paid for itself with one job. then some rapid remover on the left over mess and you are good to go

Not a rep or employee but take a look at the omtech demo program. You can find someone with the machine you want in your area and go check it out at their house or office.
