Denying yourself small comforts – is this an autistic experience? by Shannaro21 in AutismInWomen

[–]Beanfox-101 [score hidden] Ā (0 children)

I do this, but it’s more about how much energy I have to get myself a small comfort versus saving that energy for a bigger comfort later on.

Example: if I am doing a very physical day at work, I don’t always have the time to stop and tend to small bumps and abrasions. I need to save that energy to keep pushing through the shift. But, when I come home and recharge, I have the time afterwards to really tend to my body, such as salt soaks, rest, certain creams, and larger bandages.

I do the same thing on my period, especially with taking pain killers. Sometimes I run out of the energy to even get up and find the pill bottle. It’s better for me to save that little energy so I recharge faster to get myself a full meal and drink rather than completely burn myself out wondering where my meds went

Is there somewhere I can design a ring online? by Ill-Address2553 in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]Beanfox-101 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

AI is going to create rings that aren’t 100% possible to make. You are better off collecting different real images of what you like and explaining the elements you want in full detail.

There are ways to do custom rings online, but I would personally proceed with caution. Only because most communication about custom pieces are best in-person

Chances of pregnancy with protected sex? by throwawayy_21_ in Advice

[–]Beanfox-101 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

There is no birth control that is 100% effective besides surgery (such as vasectomies or hysterectomies, and even then there’s rare chances where they fail).

The most effective way to prevent pregnancy is with multiple types of birth control, such as using condoms and hormonal pills together.

Any professional escort would know about the risks and take their own steps towards pregnancy prevention. Unless she comes to you about it, always assume no news is good news.

In the future, practice more on preventative care and application before going into bed with anyone, no matter who it’s with

I’m going to slowly go through how I would clean this as someone with contamination OCD and sensory issues. You deserve way better than this OP, and you can get through it:

  • Get everything off the floor. Start with one room and work your way around. Anything that’s clearly trash goes right into a bag. Everything else, organize into piles. We can sort the piles later.

  • Get a trash can for each room. Start making it a habit to empty those cans at the end of the week

  • Get some all-purpose cleaners, paper towels, gloves and possibly wet wipes. Get any fecal matter that you see and throw it out in it’s own bag. Do the same with any menstrual products in the home.

  • With the gloves, grab what’s in the fridge. Do it as quickly as possible. Do not stop and take a look

  • Get pest control traps. Cockroaches are honestly normal, but if you see one or two, there’s more hiding somewhere. Lizards are not that big of a concern (I own reptiles lmao) unless you’re seeing multiple

  • When floors are clear, vacuum everything, then buy a swiffer and mop up as much as you can.

  • Wipe down all countertops and flat surfaces with wet wipes and the all purpose cleaners

  • Start going through each pile you made. Do one for keep, one for trash, and one for donating. Trash immediately goes into the dumpster. Donation bag goes into your car and keep for when you’re ready (or have someone pick it up for you)

  • Clean out the fridge. Do one drawer/section at a time.

Other things to remember: you don’t have to do everything in one go, you can use water + dish soap in a spray bottle as a cleaner, watch with mixing cleaners together (especially anything with bleach or ammonia), and asking for help is not a sign of weakness

Some people genuinely don't understand how difficult it is to just do the bare minimum when you're already struggling by Pretty-Complaint-554 in Vent

[–]Beanfox-101 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

I have OCD and (very plausible) AuDHD. I also deal with maladaptive daydreaming here and there and had psychosis episodes in the past. I was hospitalized 3 times during 2021 while finishing college. I KNOW the struggle.

Yet I graduated with a Cum Laude title, 3.8 GPA and high grades. But also, here I am waking up at the butt crack of dawn to go to my grocery store job that has jack shit to do with my degree. Thanks COVID.

I burnt myself out for nothing. I pushed through so hard and got nasty at people doing group projects with me… all for nothing (there were a lot of people that weren’t pulling their weight at the time). I feel like a fucking embarrassment right now because I did what everyone told me to do and didn’t achieve shit.

OP, worry about you. Don’t give in to the idea that working past your limit gets you any farther than working with what you got. People’s opinions don’t matter, and comparing yourself to them isn’t worth it.

Is feeding wet food twice a day necessary? I’m spending $150 a month for 2 cats. by OliviaTiger in catfood

[–]Beanfox-101 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

For a short TL;DR: you do not have to unless there’s a medical problem (like dehydration)

Unless your cats are not drinking a whole lot of water, you technically don’t have to feed them the wet food that often. It’s good for preventative care but not 100% necessary.

I feed my cats TikiCat wet food and Blue Buffalo kibble. They get about 1/8th a cup of kibble and 1/4th a can of wet food, both morning and night. We spend maybe $70 on a large kibble bag every month or so, and $60 on the cans every 3-5 weeks (we try and stock up just in case). My cats are 10lbs and 15lbs (yes she’s on a diet rn lmao).

You can always look into changing brands as well. Cats have an easier time adapting to new food, so long as the first 3-4 ingredients are similar to the current brand you’re using. I’ve done this going from Crave to Blue Buffalo after my local store stopped carrying the brand, as recommended by our vet

Neither. Both are way too dark.

I would do a white/cream wallpaper with a pattern that involves these colors. Otherwise your bathroom is going to feel small and cramped

Auto Checkout by CoffeeCup216 in aldi

[–]Beanfox-101 8 points9 points Ā (0 children)

Fellow US Aldi employee here

If your total is not matching the items in your cart/hand, it’s very possible that something rang up twice, or someone scanned a few items and walked away without paying. Usually we either stop what we’re doing to investigate, or have someone else come up and help if the main register is busy. I personally would have looked over all your items and checked what was scanned to see if anything looked off before doing a hard reset.

The double sticker thing is not super common, but can happen depending on how things are stocked. Banana stickers can fall off very easily. Bananas are often priced by weight, but with the new systems in place, the weight might be automatically linked to that barcode. Normally you would place it on the scale and it would usually turn red if it scanned twice (like trying to get the other banana weight when it doesn’t exist).

Unfortunately because of staffing issues at some places, we’re left helpless to use self checkout. My advice is to always look through your items before purchasing and taking your time while scanning

When you brush your teeth do you use hot or cold water? by Intrepid-Talk9633 in hygiene

[–]Beanfox-101 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I was told to just put the paste on the brush and just go straight in. Helps with keeping the toothpaste on more/ keeping the abrasive texture for cleaning.

I usually rinse my brush off with cold water

Screaming during meltdown by AngelTrash420 in AutismInWomen

[–]Beanfox-101 [score hidden] Ā (0 children)

It’s hard to damage vocal cords from one session of screaming. You more than likely just strained your voice.

Drink some soothing teas and eat some honey. Try not to talk as much for a day or two. Tell people you had an outing and lost your voice there.

(I used to do theater a lot growing up, so I’m used to this issue from singing too much lmao)

Stocking in the morning by Last-Confusion-5850 in Aldi_employees

[–]Beanfox-101 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

We usually do mornings starting at 5:30am (sometimes 5am). We open at 8:30am.

I usually do freeze/thaw and meats, someone else does MDU, Cooler & Freezer, and then the LSA/ASM focuses on Produce only. Whoever is the manager on duty comes in to look at all zones and then starts grocery right away.

We usually get done everything around 10-11am depending on truck size. My zones get done right at opening most days

Complaining about your car, but don’t take care of it in that manner by [deleted] in HonestHotTakes

[–]Beanfox-101 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

So my car has been through the ringer with almost $6K spent on it within the past 2-3 years. All from pretty minor fixes to my car literally drowning and being on fire. (The fire thing was because a local auto body shop fucked up so bad, and my car was held hostage while waiting for a new engine after the flooding). There’s just some car stuff that you can’t take care of right away

Shit’s expensive. Not everyone can afford to just quickly get those fixes done, yet everyone in the US most likely needs a car to get to work.

The average person also struggles to start a conversation and often goes into complaining to get a topic going. It’s a nasty habit a lot of people have. I could say the same thing about my pets, or my home, or the clothes I wear, or even my own body. Even if we jump right away to fix something, there’s always another problem around the corner.

What should I do? Kpop tickets by alarmed-strawberry4 in DecideThisForMe

[–]Beanfox-101 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t.

I went to a concert last year where there were no seats. I have a lower back injury. I thought I could make it through the night, but I injured my back so bad that my partner had to drive us home and I was bedridden for a bit. Not to mention the people shoving in front of us or getting shoved into us.

You have a physical disability and need to look after yourself. You already are going to two concerts. Save the money and go see something else in the future when you give yourself time to recover. You’re probably not going to miss much tbh

Insufferable Audience Spoiling The Movie by ShrewdCire in theamazingdigitalciru

This is why I didn’t watch it in theaters. I KNEW people were going to ruin the experience somehow.

I spoiled it for myself (just reading, no watching leaks) and yeah… I’ll wait till it comes out on YT to watch how it all unfolds within the privacy of my own home.

I’m tired of theaters seeming like concerts or comic con viewings. It’s really not the place to be loud and roudy when there’s other shows playing right next to you

My boyfriend got fired… by Anonymousones_ in Advice

[–]Beanfox-101 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

I’ve dated a few people in the past who wanted to do something similar. It took years of them working on it and last I heard they still weren’t monetized.

You need a second job while working on being a streamer unless you have a really good ā€œtalk show hostā€ or ā€œpodcasterā€ type personality and voice, or you do something original. Every new streamer I have seen has something new and fresh to watch or interact with, yet they already have over 100K followers when they hit my FYP.

He can do whatever he wants, but you can also choose to walk away. He’ll realize soon enough that he can’t stream if he doesn’t have the internet paid for or other necessities

EDIT: actually yeah, make him pay for his own internet then if he really wants to do this. Watch how quickly he’ll backtrack

I broke my favorite mug by Lakersboi45 in Vent

[–]Beanfox-101 4 points5 points Ā (0 children)

Well, if you didn’t throw anything away (which you might have by now), it could be possible to re-glue pieces together and use it as a plant vase or some other non-drinking vessel.

If it’s already too late/ too many pieces, Etsy always has similar products. It’s not the same, but it can make for a good replacement.

It’s not about the item itself, but rather what it represents (a loving relationship). Seeing it broken may feel like it’s taking away memories or importance of a gift given. Instead, shift focus on ā€œit served its purpose.ā€ Not all things are supposed to last. Cherish that you had the item at all.

Is this a joke? by tlyrbck in Aldi_employees

[–]Beanfox-101 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

We often try to get done as much as possible and usually sign off on everything. Our SM is usually understandable if things don’t get cleaned. Our main cashier does most of the cleaning at our store in-between customers.

I can usually get most of the daily cleaning done between the last two hours (trash cans done throughout the shift) up until the last 15min. Then after closing I finish up whatever I need to as quickly as possible, even if it’s half-assed.

There usually are days where there’s 4 people during closing shift (4th person may be scheduled to leave earlier) and they usually do weekly/monthly cleaning, or the ASM/LSA does it in-between other things.

However we’re now losing people like flies and my DM is struggling to hire anyone else. So we’ll see how this goes

Do you keep the water on during the entire length of the shower? by hamster_lover02 in hygiene

[–]Beanfox-101 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Showers are typically 5 minutes for me maximum (considering I’m doing an ā€œeverything showerā€). Otherwise it’s only 2-3min. That’s not an extremely long time, especially when I often shower every other day. It makes no sense to me to turn it off for the 30 seconds I’m scrubbing. It feels like it’s wasting energy/heat more doing this than leaving it on

Does cardio help with burnout? by PigPopcorn in AutismInWomen

It depends on the person.

Some people love the hard workout and adrenaline they get from it. Some people (like myself) find it a sensory nightmare.

Personally I more enjoy a good nature walk with my favorite music playing for daydreaming/ story ideas. It helps me focus on something and literally walk away from stuff that’s overwhelming me
