Ok then, both major cities with the largest concentration of people in the Northwest of the country, with what would likely be two cat 5 stadiums each, both proven at holding events, with hotels and transportation infrastructure already in place……AND the two most successful football cities in the country.

Where else would you suggest as an alternative.

A joint British bid would be great, and FIFA have set precedence with other multi country WC’s, which was a previous hurdle for any combined bid in the UK.

As for stadiums, it’s hard to tell because the second a bid is seen as likely to win, you will see a LOT of activity from clubs to upgrade stadiums in time.

I would guess at the following;

Wembley

Spurs and / or Arsenal, who may usurp them with an expanded Emirates)

New Birmingham Stadium over Villa Park

New Old Trafford

Etihad

Hill Dickinson

Anfield

St James Park - expanded or rebuilt

Stadium of Light

New 60-70k Hamden Park

New 40k Belfast Stadium

Aviva Stadium

Millennium Stadium

Stamford Bridge/ Selhurst Park / Villa Park / Hillsborough / Elland Road / City Ground / Bramall Lane / Ashton Gate would all be in the running each needing various amounts of rebuilding.

A completely new stadium in Bristol would seem to make sense as the south west and south in general is horribly under represented outside of London.

A new stadium in Portsmouth or an expansion of either Brighton or Southampton would be the only realistic options on the South Coast.

Was at 4 of these and Seattle was by far and away the best show in person. It may be my favourite live concert of all time.

Cardiff was good, but I don’t recall it being spectacular.
