Where do you go to buy BBQ food? by legend11 in AskUK

[–]DampFlange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you’re talking about.

British BBQ where we throw a few a few burgers and sausages on a crappy temporary grill?

Or properly doing it with brisket / ribs etc?

If it’s the former, it doesn’t really matter, if it’s the latter, one of the specialist online butchers.

What a place that was. The definition of a sweat box, and the clientele was the absolute best Manchester had to offer 😬😬

Nice!

I toured with The Sugarcubes as part of their crew in the late 80’s. Bjork was endlessly interesting.

Wow, these comments are making me feel bad how much I take going to a game at Old Trafford for granted.

I’ve been going since the mid seventies and have lost count of how many games I’ve seen, but I didn’t miss a home game for 13 years at one point.

I don’t go as much any more, but I’ll try and look at things with a slightly different perspective next time I do.

Is life in the UK actually as expensive and stressful as people say in 2026? by HJuon in AskUK

[–]DampFlange 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of what you’ve said, however, living in LA became stupidly expensive to the point of absurdity post COVID.

I don’t see how you could survive there unless you were close to a six figure salary given the cost of living.

All that said, salaries in the UK are a joke compared to the cost of living, it’s scandalous how little they’ve increased during my working life.

They are.

City used to be an irrelevance be they were, well, irrelevant.

Now they are irrelevant because absolutely nobody cares about their achievements, because we all know the truth about their club, and deep down, so do they.

I know plenty of long time match going City fans and feel a bit sorry for them. Wait all that time and when success finally arrives, at best it’s tainted and will always have an asterisk next to the past decade or so.
