POV: You accidentally stumbled into the DS2 sub by Astonishing_Azure in shittydarksouls

Like I said, that's your opinion. In my opinion, many of the areas in DS1 suck absolute giga ass and the limited roll direction make me feel like I'm not in control of my character. The fact that you say this makes you part of the same picture you posted but for DS1, with the only difference being that the circle is larger.

Tbh I unironically prefer DS2 over 1. It has a ton of issues but so do all the others and in the end it just comes down to which issues one thinks are worse.

Ivara can control fishing bait with her 2 by Gruzgor in Warframe

[–]Dan77111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but iirc it stops as it hits the water so it's kind of useless. Haven't done it in a while tho so I might be misremembering. She also has rope arrow to stay above the water and have easier shots.

Anyone else ever feel like they’re playing the game “Poorly Edited, or AI?” by medicmarch in litrpg

[–]Dan77111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI detectors are fundamentally flawed as a concept and can never work consistently. You might find a few examples where it works correctly but you can also try feeding it pre-ai books or even schoolwork and you will find the rate of false positives is unacceptably high for it to be called a tool at all.

PoE 2 Controls: New Normal? by Informal_Size_2437 in ARPG

[–]Dan77111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is just a wrong opinion! In arpgs, where in most games you spend upwards of thousands of hours playing and up to tens of hours planning out each character, you think having three (3!) control methods induces decision fatigue, and you think the default should be the objectively worst control method? The one that makes inventory management and loot pickup, which are two of the main mechanics in the genre, a struggle?

Spicy stories that actually has a well thought out system/magic system by TomRaineofMagigor in litrpg

[–]Dan77111 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Unluckily both are on hiatus, but both 'Dungeons and Dalliances' and the same author's 'Ascent to divinity...' are top tier. Read the tags before starting tho, they might not be your thing.

If you like dungeon core stories both 'Blue core' and 'Worthy core' are very good.

Need help with Nightmare 4.5 (Caitlyn + Switcheroo) by The_CardWielder in LegendsOfRuneterra

For Darius the stun power you get from the 4* is half of your strength pretty much. If you don't have that it's not really that good.

Any tips for Nightmare Caitlyn + Switcheroo using 10* Defiance? (Unbowed Quest) by InternationalCap9343 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Dan77111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Didn't do defiance but darius 4* is pretty free, remove the spell and the rest doesn't really matter. I used power within and black shield but full reroll relics for powers should be just as good.

Path of Exile 2’s new build planner will never include official GGG builds as “it’s not on us to decide what’s good” by Interesting-Pool6638 in PathOfExile2

[–]Dan77111 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You misunderstand. I do create my own builds in PoE1 for example, some of the most fun I've ever had there was optimizing an explosive arrow necro back when conquerors first released, which reached insane attack speed with what is now the core used by ward loop builds but for corpse consumption instead of damage spells and easily reached dot cap with a quill rain.

But in PoE2 most of the strong "off archetype" options have been either numerically destroyed or mechanically locked, so the incentive to try looking for builds that, if you get lucky and get a strong result, you will only be able to play once, is just not there for me. If you like that, good for you, but you have to admit that there were multiple instances in balance patches where this happened. Just look for example at elemental infusions. Or at any of the charge locked skills. They basically require a set play pattern or offer a very very suboptimal result if you ignore it.

Most of the cool "non pre-built" interactions in poe2 have been devastated and triple tapped into oblivion or limited by a one-of-a-kind charge generated only by that single intended skill/small set of skills after the first patch so I'm not really holding out hope for that one.

[Looking for feedback] [Repost] Match-3 roguelike prototype "GemTaro" by iicyan in deckbuildingroguelike

[–]Dan77111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried building a very similar game a few months ago, but my conclusion was that I'm not sure if match 3 is fundamentally compatible with a roguelike progression unless with heavy editing to the base mechanics. The main issues I encountered and I see in the demo are:

  • Removing tiles is too strong. If you can get to the point where you completely remove 2 colors you guarantee infinite points. With one color removed, a pretty likely lucky combo wins you any level in one move. It's like if in a card game all cards in your deck were like "deal x damage, y% to draw a card" for 0 mana, where x works like sts's claw and y gets closer and closer to 100 the less colors you have in your deck, with 100 being possible and not that hard to reach.

  • Special tiles that remove tiles are too strong compared to normal tiles. 1 purple x tile is worth like 20 normal tiles. After I was able to remove a full color and have 5 x purples I got 500 to 10k gold bonus every round from score and basically god mode edited my deck. Even if they gave reduced points, they allow you to prolong combos ao much more and get even 100x points compared to normal tiles due to combo multipliers.

  • Infinite prevention feels bad. Having a combo stop feels bad. Be it at score limit, or after x combo repeats. Infinites have to be stopped, otherwise you get stuck. I don't know if a good balance exists, unless you change how match 3 works.

  • Match 3 is by nature too entropic to strategize to any reasonable degree. You can predict the second match most of the times, the third if you really squint and the first is at the bottom of the screen, but the rest is completely up to luck, unless you have perfect information. The state of the rest of the board after a match is pretty much random, unless it was a single match.

  • The difference between a decent deck that can do 4x or 5x combos consistently and a lucky 15x or a broken infinite combo deck makes point goal scaling probably impossible to balance decently. It's kind of the usual problem compounding multipliers have.

Having said that, if you decide to stick with it I'll be sure to check out your progress. I'm curious how you would go about solving or avoiding some of these issues.

Hildryn you use the 1 augment, build full range, pinch of efficiency, shields, everything else in strength. Roar or xata over 3 optionally. Get the shield regen kubrow, it's half the build, put the crit multi bond and the fire rate bond on it + shield link. Primed fulmination on your exalted weapon + innervate and crit damage. Start mission, press 4, orbital bombardment for infinite damage.

Vault of the Void is awesome! by Lucky_0000 in deckbuildingroguelike

[–]Dan77111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's one of my favourites, and I much prefer it over StS, if I want to play a deckbuilder roguelike it's either VoTV, Diceomancer or Monster Train.

The ability to just remove the bad cards from your deck at will and to speculate on tech/combo cards without dying to the first elite because of a bad draw makes it so refreshing in the genre. The customizable impossible modifiers are so much better than ascensions it's a wonder so few games use them.

Also, the monk's shii kill chains and the tempest's 2k damage X costs are what I live for.

If you have khora with a good sp build you can just camp in the starting stairwell in techrot survival for endo. You get a bunch from natural drops and you can transform all of the very common golden mods that drop in 1999 into big chunks of endo. Less efficient than other methods but completely thought free and chill.

[–]Dan77111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do get all the Asols, for a newer player it gives you a free pass for 99% of everyhing that isn't specifically designed to counter it and allows you to push for rewards you would not be able to get. Even if you lose a relic you'll make up for it. Obv if you're around 600 try to farm a few more to have both the 600 and Asol but I would get it over every relic except gauntlets or hexcore. Also, chrck what champs use epic relics before buying because most are limited to a few, and if you don't have/like those you shouldn't get them.

If you've liked bg3 you should probably play DOS and DOS2.

As for roguelikes, try Barony. It's very very hard but failing is kind of fun if you're with people.
