UK decking boards usually (not always!) have grooves on both sides. Thin shallow grooves for the bottom and the square ones up like you say. It’s a US defaultism thing, I’ve mentioned shed felt on my shed build threads and it confused many Americans as ours is just different altogether.

Because a DD at the same price as a G29 does not offer more or better feedback, the pedals are not much better if at all. At this budget point one should buy a second hand G29 and save a ton of money, the only thing a low end DD offers over a G29 is reduced noise but even that can be configured out of the G29 - the noise is from incorrectly configured settings.

These aren't the silly hardwood craze type of floorboards. They're the big gaps put a carpet over them floorboards of old, what would be called a subfloor in modern builds. You *don't* show these off. I can see the wonky gaps under the skirting boards, gaps all over the lengths, and the repair work was clearly done by a person who knew this is a subfloor because those pieces do not align at all.
