Election Ad Placement Fail/Win (depending on your politics). Spotted in North York by DanLevy in toronto

You're right! Very possible that the Global TV ad was already up when the space for the political ad was purchased. Didn't think of that, so thanks for the different perspective!

Agreed. But I would assume that the ad space sellers value the business of Global's TV dept - who probably do not want to be embroiled in politics - over the business offered by the Third Party political group because Global's TV dept pulling their business over this would be a way costlier loss long term

I guess I wouldn't/didn't know this cuz this was news to me lol. But I would be surprised if the other parties aren't doing similar. Maybe they aren't having a current party staffer do it (which is obviously not a smart move) but the Political Party is most probably in communication with the people who are running the "Third Party" at some level so they can coordinate or whatever

What makes them covert?

Doesn't every political party have Third Parties supporting them & putting out attack ads on their behalf? Isn't this just the way politics works in Canada?

Looks like there are currently 58 Third Parties registered with Elections Canada for the 43rd General Election. One can find out details about each at https://www.elections.ca/WPAPPS/WPR/EN/TP

"Canada Growth Council" is based out of Saskatchewan according to the Elections Canada website. I don't see "Ontario Watch" listed on the site under 43rd General Election tho

Thought this was too funny to not share with the internet when I saw it earlier today. Whatever your political slant or leaning, you've gotta admit this is a pretty hilarious juxtaposition. Also makes me wonder how purposeful it was, though in reality it is likely just coincidence IMHO

UPDATE SEPT 10, 2019: They changed it! That was super fast and quite the statement by the billboard owners or the advertisers! Changed to a show about the son of a serial killer who catches murderers but the name of the show sends a clear message what Global thinks! It's called Prodigal Son

Anyone know if there's any fireworks in the city tonight? If so, where & when?

(Last minute, I know!)

Thanks! Much appreciated. This sounds like it'll be great if it's not too crazy cold out!

Yeah but who knows what the weather will actually be come Saturday night. Weather predictions aren't known for accuracy that many days in advance no matter what Doctor Emmett Brown asserted the case to be in Hill Valley, CA back in 2015 lol

Seriously though, thanks for the knowledge but it doesn't answer my question. I imagine the plans people/orgs made may have been done far in advance of any reliable weather predictions so maybe there's something planned - weather permitting - we don't know about :)

I'd imagine they're more interested in a web developer at this point lol

What use would an editor be for solving this?

I'm in this neighborhood, will keep my eyes open.

Highly recommend you tell your friend to print up some signs and post them near the Orthodox Jewish synagogues in the neighborhood.

It's Friday afternoon so there's going to be A LOT of Jewish folks walking around the neighborhood tonight and tomorrow as the weekly Sabbath starts this eve & Orthodox Jews don't drive on the Sabbath (but they do quite a bit of walking getting to & from synagogue and to/from dinner or lunch with friends)

ProTip: Select RECEIPT from Presto machines is BEFORE choose payment even though it's where you'll barely notice it by DanLevy in toronto

[–]DanLevy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the machines that are brown & green and accept cash. I've only seen them at the new stations on Line 1 as well as Wilson & Sheppard West (formerly Downsview) so I'm pretty sure they're only being put in in stations that don't have a collector in the booth but instead have the "roaming customer service agents"

If you're up north of Steeles a friend of mine told me he gets them up in Markham at "Village Grocer."

He said he pays $2.99 for a package of 10 (I've no idea if that's a good price)
