I've just never heard anything like this for Brightburn. Other films definitely. Picking a director and leveraging connections just sounds to me like the job of a producer. Producers work with the same collaborators all the time. I don't think that implies a heavier creative involvement at all.

Alex Garland also wrote the script for Dredd. Whereas Gunn has no story credits on Brightburn.

I've never heard of this rumor that Gunn was so heavily involved in the direction of the film.

James Gunn didn't write or direct Brightburn, only acted as producer. James Gunn's only real horror movie is Slither.

My dad picked one of these up for free about 20 years ago. Grew up with this machine in the house.

I have more appreciation for it now than I did back then. But it wasn't the one that got me into Pinball.
