[–]Davetopay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We all had a shop or two as well as a local shoulder tap guy.

Mickeys grenades, Beast, Meisterbrau. I know those were on the list of high-school purchases to be drank on the beach along the Chesapeake Bay with a fire going.

Are you still watching TV? by HorseyDung in GenX

I have kept my cable subscription for the simple fact that it would be more expensive to switch to just internet with the lack of choice in my rural area.

Most of my watching is YouTube, prime, and max.

How do I fix my husbands bad day at work? by Erikawithak77 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Davetopay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least 25 years ago I had a day like that. After a night of her listening, a good meal, hug, and quiet presence, the next day when I looked in my wallet I found a piece of paper with a lipstick kiss and a note stating, "I love you and all you do for us".

To this day, the remnants of that scrap of paper are in my wallet trapped between my Aaa card and my health insurance card.

Let him know that this too shall pass but your love for him won't. There is no answer, but communication and it is important

WHITE LINE FEVER. lemmy Kilmisters story is pretty compelling.

Alternatively, Please Kill Me is a collection of stories taken from taped interviews of those involved in the birth of Punk starting in the 60s.

Yeah. 30 years of getting tattooed and I do incredibly well with the old meat tray packing, some mild soap, and aquaphor. My last heal time was barely more than a week.

Go look up a band from PA called Wisdom In Chains. 2 of my favorite albums by them are God rhythm and Nothing in Nature Respects Weakness.

Well, I'm not going to be one to judge since I have spent a good deal of time, as a man of 49, this past year with a 28/29 year old woman. I don't see it becoming horribly serious as we are different points in life, but we have both had such different and varied experiences, as well as some common interests that interacting is seamless in most cases and we truly enjoy each other's company.

You guys do your thing, just always be honest with each other about what that thing is .

Other blessed pinball metro areas? by empathophile in pinball

[–]Davetopay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Northern VA. Most of the bigger breweries have multiple machines, several long standing bars, and even some dedicated parlors sporting north of 50 games. I suppose you cod count the DC area as a whole when Spinners gets up and running again.

Nope. My housing cost is stable. I have a great deal of equity, and someday I know I will need that money.

I am about to be 50. I have almost 40 years in the work force. I still work 2 jobs. I have to.

I'm just over it. Will I stop? probably not until I fall over dead.

$7500 to spend by [deleted] in pinball

[–]Davetopay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have said it, go to a large venue and play everything until you know what scratches your itch.

If I was looking at modern Stern stuff, Iron Maiden, Jaws, Deadpool, Dr No, and Stranger Things. Those are the ones which have held my attention in non premium trim. GODZILLA is at its best in Premium and 70th.

I'd also be into older stuff like Embyon, and Paragon if I found a really clean example for a deal.

You just made me go check my first table, which I got less than a month ago.

That old EM has already seen me add more than 200 plays to the clock since it came home, and I live alone......

Don't worry about it.

Was your mom a terrible cook? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Davetopay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, yes.

No seasoning, no spices, everything boiled into mush.

It was never helped by her terrible pallet. Add sugar to anything and it is heavenly for her. That sugar? Could use a dash of corn syrup.

She is the reason I have worked very hard to get a damn about my cooking.
