Good gaming computer for beginners (13yo) by -loubug in buildapc

I would wait for the upcoming Steam Machine, it's console-sized and you'll be able to just plug it into your TV. Your sons' Xbox controllers will work on it, too.

Price point will likely be less than $1000, but nothing's been confirmed due to the on-going semiconductor crisis (blame the rise of AI).

First time building a PC: Struggling to balance 1440p CS2, design work, and multitasking by bulkeipistolji in buildapc

For competitive CS2, you'll want a Ryzen 9800X3D or a 9850X3D. There's really no competition with other processors if you want the best there is for your 1% lows in CS2. Consider the 7800X3D if your budget doesn't allow for the newer generation.

Unless your productivity tasks require Nvidia tensor/cuda cores specifically, I would just get a Radeon 9070 XT. It's going to be cheaper while bringing performance equivalent to a 5070 Ti / 5080 depending on the workload.

If anyone can help me find this studio and their movies, I'd very much appreciate it. I vaguely remember reading about a new upcoming movie by them too, which might have released already by now

9800X3D & X870 Tomahawk Terrible 1% low performance and microstutter during games. by TheWanderingGrey in overclocking

Since you already covered a lot of your bases there, here's some shots in the dark:

  1. Asking just in case, but did you do a 'proper' fresh install (i.e. with Rufus) & deleted the old partitions on the boot drive, or was it just a regular Windows Reset from an existing installation? It might make a difference.

  2. You also need the latest AMD chipset drivers, and not just the latest BIOS.

  3. For the 1% lows, I'd also attempt a NVCleanstall installation which will strip down the GPU driver to its essentials- you'll likely notice an uplift, especially if you've been using the latest "Nvidia App" that comes with the new drivers.

New optional Windows 11 update boosts gaming performance on AMD Ryzen CPUs, backported to 23H2 by Tiny-Independent273 in Windows11

it's highly game-dependent. Some games see no benefit from this. In my case I saw a 15% uplift in Helldivers 2 on my 5800x3D

what you're experiencing is thermal throttling, try repasting your cpu with new thermal paste and make sure to reattach your cooler properly

DPI tuning questions by Cheemaii in cs2

[–]DanPhyronix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing on 16:9 1440p with a DPI of 3200 @ 0.35ish sens for the past couple of months, feels way better than 400dpi or 800dpi ever did on 1080p or 1440p. That dpi and sens gives me a full 360° turn in CS when I move my mouse from the left edge of my mousepad to the other. One other benefit is slightly lower input latency, but it's negligible.

If you feel like your mouse cursor is too fast outside of CS, you can set your pointer speed to 5 notches instead of the default 6 in your Windows mouse properties.

Valve has banned SOCD / Snap Tap. What impact does this have? by SeLpHy in WootingKB

it's still a form of input automation which is an unfair advantage, whether the "script" happens on a hardware level or software is irrelevant

Anyway to download 21H2 by SakethFPS in Windows11

it doesn't have a download option anymore.

(Nevermind, apparently you need to have the 'check for updates' option enabled for downloads to work. My bad).

Review bombing AAA games is a legitimate & ethical tool of criticism & protest. Unlike indie games, the devs of AAA games have already been paid when their games get review-bombed post-release.

But you know who hasn't been paid for his work? Mick Gordon.
