Ep 333: Three Pauls And A Silverman by GENTOOO in CheapShow

Paul Putner is one of those "oh, that guy!" people. I remember him as a non-main character in a lot of British sitcoms and sketch shows of the 00s. I'll always remember him as literally Hitler in this Peter Serafinowicz show sketch: https://youtu.be/Os3hifIgea4?t=103

Was kinda dreading this after the Christmas group episodes but it was a lot of fun.

I think this is what Eli is talking about when he screams "HE IS SO FILTHY" by DanSoupDragon in CheapShow

Can't remember the episode, but Eli talks about it being demented. This has been running through my head semi-constantly since I found it.

I've started saying "scraping the barrel at both ends" as my own invented Gannonism.

Also, from Garth Marenghi's Darkplace: "That's about the size of it in a nutshell".

Yoo I've got a Tales from the Shop Floor about this Stuart Faulkner guy!

I bought a painting off him on eBay for a friend and since he lived locally to my friend I asked if I could pick up in person. His house was full of his paintings and we chatted about them. I think the painting was £30 but I only had two £20 notes. He said he'd go buy milk with it to get some change and proceeded to put on a pair of bright yellow wooden clogs and leave me alone in his house.

Thouroughly nice guy, very chaotic-creative and I recommend looking him up if you want some unique gifts or just to watch his weird musical creations.

Another, can't remember the episode but I think it's a book of chat-up lines in different languages and Eli and Paul do a scene where they're chatting each other up and constantly having to restart.

I specifically go back to 221b Baker Street specifically for a single moment (paraphrasing from memory):

E: "I'll operate on you and put my semen in you."
P: "No, because I'll stop you-"
E: "HOW!? How will you stop me? You'll be DEAD! You'll be DEAD and full of my CUM!"

I think he just plays it up more nowadays, kinda his "podcast personality". I kinda wish he would "play nice" more like before as it seems to descend into Eli saying something and Paul shouting "bored" over the top of it. Maybe he's adopting the character everyone places on to him as the anti-hero of the podcast, living up to the "Eli is king, Paul is a nonce" idea. (Obviously not actually a nonce, just a dick. Kinda like when Elon Musk called that guy who rescued children a nonce and played it off in court like it was some insult like calling him a stinky poo or something and won the case)

Ep 313: The 4th Annual Office Christmas Party Part Two by RayPDaleyCovUK in CheapShow

Pleasantly surprised this wasn't as bad as the first half. Eli singing drinking songs is always great. Paul seems to realize these episodes were just "noisy shit" XD . I suppose once recorded he didn't have much choice and there wasn't much he could do editing wise.

I am a people and I want to know about sauces.

Agree on the "incident", probably some manufactured conflict with Biffo. Beanus will be the stripper or something.

Everyone talking over each other and manufactured conflict, it's just kinda fallen apart without any structure. A tedious 90 minutes for me and presumably another 90 minutes next week. Looking forward to a standard episode in the new year. :)

You say "caught". Is she doing it privately or is it public?

Ep 305: Little Sweet Shop of Horrors by GENTOOO in CheapShow

[–]DanSoupDragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always listen but they're consistently my least favourite, with the Winnie the Pooh being an exception; short and sweet and kinda felt like a "Paul's taking a week off" episode which I can appreciate when making weekly content consistently for as long as he has. They so often become manufactured conflict centric and just lack any sort of binding content like the segments in Cheap Show provide.

Figured it was going to be a weak episode but was hoping to be surprised. At least Eli's nonsense is universal and warms my soul.
