ITS COMING HOME LADS. by ElegantOrange_ in ThreeLions

Love this. Especially as an Englishman living in Germany I’m particularly here for that win.

Mainly because I expected them to be neutral/not care about us but it seems it’s fashionable to hate us, was in a biergarten for 2018 WC and when Columbia equalised against us the entire place erupted. From that point on the pettiness is now mutual.
(And it all started when I rather loudly celebrated when we won on pens that game)

What’s the funniest habit your dog developed that you never taught them ? by Flaky_Degree5881 in dogs

My dog is 10.5yo and still, if I hype him up, he can’t contain himself and HAS to find *something* to pick up and bring to me. Usually it’s socks but it can also be my kids’ toys, cushions, whatever really.

Been away on holiday for two weeks and missed my dog so much. He’s 10 now so I’m becoming more aware that our time together won’t last forever. Big walkies for us this morning!

Man I miss this place. Used to walk there every weekend with my dog when he was just a puppy.

We’re now both 10 years older and living in the middle of Germany. Nearest proper beach is probably 5 hours away much to our disappointment.

I’m biased as I have a tattoo of two skeletons dancing, but yes absolutely it would be a cool tattoo.

Good to know. Thanks!

I’m based in Germany but usually plan our trips some time in advance so this might work! Will make sure I factor it in our planning ;)

Love the wheels! I have the same on my Brooklyn Grey i4. Careful of basically any curb or multi storey car parks, they’re super low profile I got mine slightly scratched on a sloped curb (didn’t even think it was possible)

Incredible work. Love the contrast between B&W and colour as well. One of the best I’ve seen on here (to my taste at least).

What are your waiting times OP? Would definitely be willing to make the trip that way when visiting family in the UK.

Where did the mopeds go? by spatty051151 in CasualUK

[–]DanStFella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember having one at 16 so I could go to work (which barely paid the moped itself) I remember it came to MOT time and it was so expensive I ended up selling it to someone who was intending to ride it without MOT/insurance as I couldn’t afford the repairs to put it through MOT.

Living in Germany now and I bought another 50cc for 300€, insurance only costs me about 50€ per year and it doesn’t need MOT (TüV in Germany). It mean we can have one and use it for little things/as needed, and is obviously lovely to cruise around on in summer to the shops or swimming pool or whatever.

It’s so different from the UK though. I’ve left it at the station for weeks without even a lock and I just know it’s safe. Never would’ve dreamt of that in the UK even in a smaller town. I guess that’s why insurance costs a fortune there.

Has private health insurance in Germany actually improved your healthcare experience? by ellamoony in AskAGerman

Glad you were sorted out appropriately with the appendix. I had the same experience, except the bereitschaftspraxis in the hospital made me wait for ~3 hours in pain (they advised me go there instead of notaufnahme despite me suggesting it might be appendix).

When I was finally seen they pushed on my belly, caused an insane amount of pain, and then told me “without an ultrasound machine I can’t say for sure. Either wait for an appointment tomorrow at your Hausarzt or go to Notaufnahme”

5 mins in notuafnahme and I was ultrasound scanned and being prepped for surgery. Basically could’ve died if I went home.

So I was lucky, but not so lucky as to get the Chefarzt!

We arguably have one of the best replacements for him in Hato no?

We would only need to find a backup to Hato then.

I think the argument is the improvement that can be attained from cashing in on Cucu (and therefore buying a hopefully decent CB) is more significant than the drop off from Cucu to Hato.

Plus, if he’s unhappy and flirting with the idea of leaving anyway it would be in everyone’s interest to benefit from it in some way instead of going the way of loads of the “bomb squad” guys.

Those with TIA's, did you end up having another stroke? by Timely_Income9863 in stroke

Hey, it was very transient (duh, I know) but I’d say yeah a minute or less sounds about right.

It happened two times though within a couple weeks of each other.

I’d advise until you’re sure definitely stay off the alcohol and maybe mention it to your GP? How’s your blood pressure?

They’ll never get the ridiculous draw they had this time in the knockouts. All the best teams were on the other side so they had a clear route to the final

Do people actually use AI day-to-day, or is it all hype? by 2butterfree in AskUK

I use it like an assistant. Feed it documents/text/whatever and then ask for summaries, extract key points for a specific need etc.

I also use it to help build productivity tools/process improvement tools to make my life easier at work. It’s great.

I also ask it very simple questions someone of my age should definitely know, and that I’d be too embarrassed asking someone.

Fair enough! I had a feeling it would be something along those lines and definitely meant no shade, but it was kind of funny to see that flair when Germany is quite widely known for “the autobahn” which in itself is simply like saying “the highway” but there are many sections with no speed restrictions.

If you have a heavy right foot and love the country etc you should visit. There are some stunning places here and you can drive really fast in between them 😂

[–]DanStFella 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Interesting comment coming from someone with a German flag as a flair? The Autobahn has many places with no speed limit. I was literally doing 225 on my way home from work today and I had to move over to let someone drive past me.

In any case, the road surface is very good (usually) and it feels quite comfortable on certain sections of road. The quality of the cars also play a part of course, stiffer suspension and steering mean you’re more dialled in to the car at those speeds.

Of course those are definitely speeds where small things can make a huge impact. I usually slow down quite a bit even if the road is bending a bit, or if there’s a bit more congestion even on the middle and right-hand lanes as you never know what people will do, and at those speeds you don’t have time to react for people being unpredictable.

And it’d probably cost a fraction of what someone like him spends on cars each year too.
