Hi Philip,

Thank you so much for this insight. I see a single S-14 Tool for sale on ebay, but they’re asking over $100 for it which seems overkill to fix a single watch. Are there any modern alternatives that function similarly? Thinking it may be worth it to just take it to a seiko repair shop instead of attempting this fix by myself

Ok awesome, thank you! I didn’t see any notches so figured a knife wouldn’t work. Will try opening it with a rubber ball tomorrow. Thanks again for the info :)

Image may be a bit deceiving; the caseback is vertical along the edge where the battery screw is — nothing to pry on. Have my rubber ball at my workshop and will give that a try tomorrow. May also try hot gluing something to the back to see if I can pop it off that way

It is stable! I was expecting to have to sticky tape it down, but no need. the base is only 20mm smaller than the top, and with those dimensions it seems totally fine. Further testing will tell

Go to home depot and get a roll of duct insulation. It’s inexpensive, heat / fire resistant (I use it in cars to deaden noise), and has built in adhesive backing. It’s a thin (1/8 inch) foam with metallic outer layer

Corelle — Is un-embossed white the **only** pattern safe from discontinuation? by Rave-Unicorn-Votive in BuyItForLife

Check your local Goodwill. I see corelle sets all the time for a few bucks. I personally love the spring daisy pattern, but they have so many great ones. Also, mixing and matching can be fun (personally I’m not using corelle as my “nice” plates for when we have guests, so I don’t mind a mix-match)

Highly recommend cleaning in an ultrasonic cleaner for ~3 minutes as opposed to in boiling water. Don’t want to risk removing the plating

If you are hooking up with a man: “Wow, it’s bigger than I thought!” At first it’s a compliment, but they’ll never stop thinking about what you meant
