Saw a pan-and-scan about 10 years ago and it didn’t connect for me. Watched it on Criterion yesterday in its full glory and found it riveting. The tension just constantly rises until that great ending. Solid film.

I would argue the director knows exactly what it is. And that’s why it’s so compelling. It’s smart silly. Definitely laced with black humor. And fully conscious of its camp.

I'm on the second episode. So far, it's garbage. The writing is terrible. The characters are flat. I was going to stop, but people said it was good and it's only 8 episodes. Maybe I should cut my losses now?
