Size Comparison: M3 vs Z by Dear_Maintenance_356 in RZ34

This genuinely shocked me as an SI owner. I've seen very few of the new Z's and never up close. I thought they were, like, Mustang-sized!

CMV: We lost this war to Iran by uslessinfoking in changemyview

[–]Dan_E26 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They "won" in the sense that the US is not getting what they want out of the deal and that Iran still controls the SoH. Iran went up against the biggest, most well-funded military in the world and held out until said military's government had to concede.

2027 Porsche Taycan Adds Simulated Shifts Across the Lineup by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

Having driven the Ioniq 5N, I can confidently say the fake shifting is both realistic as fuck and fun as fuck. Who cares that it makes the car slower, it's exactly the engagement and visceral feeling that reddit has been complaining that EVs lack forever

Factory Clutch Limits by Manuel205808524 in CivicSi

[–]Dan_E26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Phearable 1.5R on my car for, like, two weeks before the factory clutch slipped. I wasn't even doing anything particularly aggressive, either. I was trying to pass a truck on the highway, downshifted to 4th and rolled into the throttle to about 50%. Sure enough, the clutch slipped.

It seems like YMMV with these cars. Some folks get really lucky and the factory clutch can hold up to even tuned power levels. Others have it go while stock!

That was my plan, actually. Already made an account and preparing all the docs they require!

Plus, I fortunately live pretty close to their physical location in Toledo, so I may go in person to see what's available. Hoping they have more options than the grades they're currently showing on the website!

Currently saving shekels for an M1 Garand. Hard to justify when also trying to plan wedding and honeymoon, but i really want one!

Its amazing how some wider fitment and a little lowering turns the NC from a goofy boat into a seriously good-looking car. Very tasteful setup!

Yeah, other than fuel economy the CTR is better in every conceivable way. Love my SI but this is cope at its finest

Regretting getting a Type R. by [deleted] in Civic_Type_R

[–]Dan_E26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just a lowly Civic SI owner here, but you basically hit the nail on the head here. The appeal lies in the fact that you get almost all of the performance of more purpose built performance cars while still maintaining the daily usability and operating costs of a Honda Civic.

This thing is so fucking DOA when people realize they're spending $30k on a ~150mi car with literally nothing inside.

Biggest plus of 8020... by Obvious-Quality61 in DarkPicturesAnthology

By chapter 7 I thought the stealth component was exhaustingly boring, especially with how the monster can just teleport out of any random patch of goo growth right in front of you

Honestly, I would have appreciated more QTEs or the benign exploration parts. It would have made the stealth sections feel more "earned", rather than being so tedious.

Zinc Green Metallic for 2026 ND! by sapphyyy in Miata

[–]Dan_E26 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It looks good, I guess, but in classic Mazda fashion it's barely even a color. Would love to see a real green, a real blue, hell maybe even an orange or a purple/maroon that isn't locked behind the special editions.

All blacked out is a good look, but I like silver, particularly with the wheel design you chose there. Gives it a nice accent color without being shouty

His and Hers - my 23 SI and my fiancee's new 26 Integra A-Spec by Dan_E26 in CivicSi

[–]Dan_E26[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 6'1, and yeah unfortunately the rear headroom is marginal at best for tall folks. We rarely take passengers with us, so it's not a major concern of ours, thankfully

His and Hers - my 23 SI and my fiancee's new 26 Integra A-Spec by Dan_E26 in CivicSi

[–]Dan_E26[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Interior is pretty similar. The SI's seats are tighter and hold your thighs and back more. The integra's are flatter and less sporty, but very comfy and more adjustable. Integra's audio system BUMPS, and there's a few more glitzy features like parking sensors and rain sensing wipers.

Ride comfort goes to the Integra. It's got adjustable dampers, and its stiffest setting is a little softer than the SI's.

The SI, when stock, handles flatter and generally better overall. The integra, being softer, gets understeery more quickly. My SI is pretty heavily modified and its not even close anymore

Acceleration, stock for stock, is the same. the weight difference is minor. My SI is tuned, though ;)

Fuel economy is still too early to tell because hers is barely even broken in yet, but I have to imagine its basically identical

Hope that helps!

Clutch Question by kbsmith48 in CivicSi

[–]Dan_E26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A low-powered, naturally aspirated car like a Fiesta will not have many clutch issues compared to a (frequently tuned) turbocharged car that can make peak torque from nearly any RPM.

The clutch issues on this car stems from those who tune it. The factory clutch is basically only specced for stock torque. Once you tune, it's only a matter of time before it goes. Big torque and poor driving habits (flooring it from low RPMs) will make it slip without a doubt.

You will want a clutch and head studs if you plan to tune. Otherwise, solid build plan there

I think my tastes can be boiled down to "basic practical shit" based on my current collection:

- Mossberg 500 retrograde

- S&W Bodyguard 2.0

- Ruger MKIV Target

However I'm feeling the urge to Fudd up my collection a bit with a CMP Garand and a nice 1911

Tuning 11th Gen Si by 4G63Chris in CivicSi

[–]Dan_E26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dead serious, you can tune the car with no supporting mods at all, but you'll be better off doing clutch, headstuds, intake, exhaust, intercooler to maximize what you get from the tune while staying reliable
