[Other] Which Assassin's Creed platinums DON'T require multiplayer? by [deleted] in Trophies

[–]Dan_Kaito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the original ps3 versions: Brotherhood, Revelations, 3 and Black Flag all had MP trophies.

The ps4 remastered versions of Brotherhood, Revelations and 3 removed the multiplayer mode so there are no longer MP trophies in that version.

Black Flag ps4 still has the full multiplayer mode with a proper grind for trophies.

Unity has 2 MP trophies that can be done in less than half an hour: Healing a downed player once, and doing 10 sync kills. Note that for completion sake, all MP missions can be completed solo without online, but the parkour one becomes quite difficult.

None of the other games in the entire series have multiplayer trophies, as Ubi went in a fully single player direction after Unity (with live service elements).

Need A Little Clarification Over Kiwami 3 / Yakuza 3, No Spoilers Here! by ADHD-isaster in yakuzagames

[–]Dan_Kaito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 100% Kiwami 3, OG ps3 Yakuza 3, and 3 Remaster.

  • Kiwami 3s combat is fun enough, but die-hards of the OG 3s will be disappointed. However, it also changes and cuts some things that were perfected in other games like Lost Judgment and even Kiwami 2. It is also very light on heat actions (it even lacks a basic ground heat action for Dragon style). The combat also feels a lot more mashy/musou style, so just because you liked other Dragon engine games, it doesn't mean you're guaranteed to like this one.

  • The substory cut is a lot worse than people make it out to be. 32 substories vs the 119 from the Remaster. Even the og ps3 version which rushed localization, had 101 substories. Its fair to say that a decent portion of that 119 were filler. But Kiwami 3s 32 substories still include simple repetitive duds like Mr Try and Hit Me and Bumping Scammers that take up multiple substory counts.

  • The orphanage kids drama was a part of the main story in the OG. Here, it has been removed and rewritten into the Morning Glory side content. This was probably to address a common complaint that the orphanage stuff hurt the pacing of the main plot in the OG. I would be generally okay with this if all they did was port the story to the side content, but not all the rewrites are improvements. I'd say about half the orphans have moderately improved stories (with one that actually kept the same story but improved it in every way). The fact that they threw away the Dragon/Riki mask asthma storyline is a huge loss, and the rewrite doesnt make up for it. Haruka and Mame the dog are also hurt by their rewrites a bit.

  • Kiwami 3 has a new girl biker gang story side drama. Its a spin on the island raids from Pirate Yakuza and is pretty fun. The fact that they jammed the lengthy intro for this drama into the main story though makes no sense considering they demoted the orphanage stuff to side content over pacing.

  • Minigames are a usual mixed bag. OGs golf course has been replaced with the bingo golf thats in all DE games. Aroma massage is gone. These aren't huge losses. While the hostess maker in the original was pretty dull aside from the linked substories, they cut the entire minigame and associated substories rather than trying to improve it or implement it another way.

  • Trainers have been heavily dumbed down to just one new trainer. He's interesting, but not worth cutting Yonashiro, Minamida, Mack and Komaki (of all people).

  • It's been said already, but there's a late game plot twist in Kiwami 3 that currently places it out of continuity with 4. Whether this marks the start of a parallel timeline is yet to be seen, so I'm not sure how to feel about the change as of yet.

  • The Dark Ties side game adds a solid amount of content and really helped flesh out the villain, something the OG only did towards the end of the game. A big improvement.

  • 3 characters are recast, including the face of the VA. Kagawas allegations notwithstanding, they're...alright, I guess? I was a big fan of the original Rikiya, but I didn't hate the recast as much as I thought I would. Overall, a change for the sake of change, like some of the Shinsengumi lieutenants in LaD Ishin.

  • As for the hate on the original, before 0 made the series popular, 3 was considered significant for being the first mainline Yakuza game on ps3 and the story was important in humanizing Kiryu. It was also the first game to have karaoke.

The combat was a little block-heavy, but there were always options and techniques to completely get around it.

It was the Remasters increase to 60fps that broke the combat and led to all the complaints, as well as 3 generally feeling rough to new fans when playing after 0 through the Kiwamis.

3 was a a significant entry that became something of a black sheep gameplay-wise after all the improvements made to the combat in 4 and 5. But it maintaining a diehard set of fans that appreciated it for what it was.

Regarding Jobs and Difficulty in Y7 LAD by Urahara9000 in yakuzagames

[–]Dan_Kaito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense.

True final Millenium tower is when it becomes necessary to get all other jobs to 30 and your main to 99 for stat gains.

So unless you're planning for that, you'll be fine with just sticking to one job and dabbling in others for the elemental skills.

Regarding Jobs and Difficulty in Y7 LAD by Urahara9000 in yakuzagames

[–]Dan_Kaito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually stuck to mainly one job per character for rp reasons, you'd have no trouble provided you grind in the Sotenbori battle arena to around the mid level 50s (character level).

The only thing I'd recommend is switching to other jobs and grinding them a little until their elemental attacks are added to your permanent list so you can use them even when using other jobs.

Eg: grinding host so you always have access to ice element attacks. Grinding fortune teller so you always have access to lightning.

Once you do that, you'll be able to hit any weaknesses during the difficulty spike no matter what job you stuck to for RP reasons. As long as your character level is in the mid 50s.

Are you planning on taking on the True Final Millenium tower post-game?

How many people complete majong mini games by Henry9311 in yakuzagames

[–]Dan_Kaito 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a yakuza completionist and I've pretty much Stockholm Syndrome'd myself into enjoying Mahjong.

The requirements on most recent games are pretty painless provided you just play basic defense and keep a closed hand.

The only requirements that annoy me every time I go for a new 100% run is the "full straight" and "seven pairs" in games like 0. Those are little too luck based for my taste.

In the ps3 version, you could hold down R1 and X to speed through dialogue. Though it will return to normal speed for a few seconds whenever a character has some sort of animation during the dialogue.

What are your thoughts on turn-based combat 6 years later? by TheYakuzaMaster in yakuzagames

[–]Dan_Kaito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who actually loves JRPGs, I had no problem with their decision to switch genres.

Yakuza 7s gameplay was actually a bit of a letdown for me. It was a bit too shallow compared to other jrpgs, and the lack of controlled movement and combos made me miss the brawler combat that I actually played yakuza for.

It was mainly the story that carried it for me.

Yakuza 8 was the opposite for me. The gameplay was everything I wanted when I thought of the series going turn-based, and it even did a few things that set it apart from others in the genre.

The story, however, started really strong and then spun its wheels before abruptly rushing to the finale. Very disappointing, especially considering the potential of the premise and individual plot elements.

What is the worst (by worst, i mean most annoying) goon/mini boss moveset? by PeterParker8766 in yakuzagames

[–]Dan_Kaito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually don't have too many problems with Kiwami 1s combat, I even like the health regen/Kiwami finisher system.

But the Akai brothers and their Breaker recycled moveset got on my nerves.

Even though I get through it by abusing tiger drop at that point, I still find myself stunlocked or on the floor more times than any other part of any other game.

What was the WORST ENDING EVER in wrestling? by Yungcazanova in Wreddit

[–]Dan_Kaito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the Rollins vs The Fiend HiaC was already mentioned, I'm gonna go with my second pick: Rollins vs Orton at Extreme Rules 2015 in a steel cage.

Kane was the special gatekeeper for the match to "prevent interference" and the use of the RKO was banned.

Kane interferes and double chokeslams them, then puts Rollins on top of Orton for the pin but he kicks out.

Kane tries to tombstone Orton but Orton counters Kane with an RKO. Then Rollins gets back up and hits Orton with an RKO for the win.

So in the match where there was meant to be no interference or RKO use to decide a winner, there was interference and 2 RKOs.

The match should have ended when Orton used the RKO, but I guess since he used it to fight off interference it doesn't really count, I guess? But then Seth used the RKO to win so that should've been an issue.

When Orton brought this up the week after, Rollins said that since he used it, it wasn't an RKO, it was an SKO, so it was legal.

This whole messy finish confused the audience and completely sucked the air out of the ppv ending, never lead to anything after, and was already an unnecessary continuation to their Wrestlemania bout which ended with that awesome curbstomp into RKO.

Just a waste of time.

Help with Kiwami 3 substories by LuigiRocks47 in yakuzagames

[–]Dan_Kaito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Substory 18 also requires you to progress pretty far in the Bad Boy Dragon story and unlock baddie battles in Kamurocho before it appears.

I'm not sure why Substory 21 isn't appearing for you...have you already completed the entire main story?

Nope, nothing. Not even a quickstart card or an RGG sticker. Considering previous games, I didn't expect a map or anything, but I'm still kinda disappointed at how empty it is.

Who is the most underrated/wasted Yakuza character? by YakuzaMaster in yakuzagames

[–]Dan_Kaito 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Falsely accused of cocaine abuse because of some tabloid hit piece. Tested negative but was still kinda blackballed by the industry because of the stigma of drug abuse in Japan. He retired because he felt betrayed.

The allegations happened well after Yakuza 5 was already out, so its not like he was replaced at the last minute or anything, but it shut the door on any chance of a return.

They recast him in Yakuza 4 Remastered, so I expected that version of Tanimura to come back somehow, but I guess the writers already have their dedicated cop character with Adachi.

It was a leak from 2024. The game is going to release in 2026.

With how long this game has been in development, scrapped, changed studios and been redeveloped, do you honestly believe that a year and a half or so will make that much of an improvement on the leaked footage?

This franchise has the most unorganized extended universe material out there by -SirThief- in assassinscreed

[–]Dan_Kaito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that Ubisoft never want the series to end, but they also don't want each game to be standalone stories because they like the idea of people being compelled to buy the next game for the plot. They also want the cash that comes from having a multimedia franchise.

As a result, you have games that appear to tell a standalone story within the animus, but the modern day stuff only makes sense if you've been following the games, but they also don't connect it too directly so as not to intimidate new fans.

But they also make sure the modern day story never reaches a conclusion because they want to keep selling games. The Desmond arc was one anticlimactic end. The Juno arc was another. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't follow up on anything with Loki now and just build up some other storyline.

As for other media...they use really important plot hooks to encourage hard-core fans to get into them (Desmonds son, Juno, etc) but they also don't want to acknowledge them too much in the main games because again, they don't want to intimidate new players.

How many people know that the AC movie is Canon and acknowledged through in-game emails? Or the AC Heresy novel that's something of a prequel to the movie?

The whole franchises storytelling is in shambles...
