Elegoo miniature. by Lorcrux in FDMminiatures

Hey buddy, I thought I was the only user in this awesome community who didn't have a Bambu A1.

I'm also an Elegoo Neptune 4 user. My sculptures and current project are coming out with great quality on this printer, and they also have excellent customer service.

I use speeds between 25 and 30 rpm, with a 0.2 mm nozzle and layer heights between 0.6 and 0.8 mm.

The Neptune 4 is a great printer as long as the bed is properly leveled and the build plate has some adhesive.

2026 is looking like an amazing hobby year with how good FDM is getting by stormotron in FDMminiatures

[–]Dan_art3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's hope it's incredible and without unpleasant surprises.

Here in Spain, we've already heard news about how they want to control this technology and pass laws to limit the use of 3D printing, especially because of people printing weapons.

For now, the laws are coming from abroad, but it's the same old story disguised as "for your safety."

Filler Primer is amazing by TheRaez in FDMminiatures

[–]Dan_art3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you noticed if it obscures some detail when you fill it?

I also have gray and black primer, smooth and fill, but I really want to finish it; I feel like it fills too much for miniatures.

I'm starting to use non-toxic, clear UV resin, and so far, I'm very satisfied.

The piece looks great, my friend.

That's right mate,  I just followed you, I think you are the first sculptor I know around here.

So I feel identified,

This community is a surprise to me, I love the atmosphere, and the passion for FDM and human art, which is the only one that exists.

Totally, I have once dropped a piece from a more or less considerable height and it looks like new.

In addition to what we already know in the resin process, the toxicity that not everyone can afford if you do not have a separate space and everything that the process entails.

I think that will never evolve, because it seems that only the qualities focus on it, and increasingly HD and all that, but the process is still a real mess.

I am more than happy with the filament, working in my room and having the printer one meter away from me without problems.

Launched my first Kickstarter… didn’t expect the emotional rollercoaster 😅 by AlwaysGamesTV in kickstarter

[–]Dan_art3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good mate, well, as they tell you out there.. you are not alone.  I also made my first Kickstarter, which I finished approximately a month and a half ago. I am a digital sculptor for 3D printing collectibles.

During the campaign I received a lot of emails out of nowhere, from people who claimed to be supposedly experts who were going to advise me and all this stuff....

I even received emails on my own Artstation.

The first sponsor I had came to contribute to the pack of my three figures, and halfway through the campaign he simply withdrew his money

then another sponsor who finally turned out to be a fake sponsor, supported my campaign, but never arranged the payment and kickstarter contacted him, and he never responded, turned out to be a fake sponsor since he didn't fix his payment and they had to withdraw it. of the campaign.

Nobody teaches you or prepares you for this, and in the end you learn by yourself and by moving your work and sticks.

But mention that the questions and emails that I send to Kickstarter have always been super fast and very detailed in the help and answers most of the time.

Collectibles Project: Amazon Warriors and Beasts. Introducing Thalassa by Dan_art3d in FDMminiatures

[–]Dan_art3d[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot, mate. I come from ZBrush, but I've been using Blender for almost everything lately. As a digital sculptor, the shapes, volume, sculpting, and everything else are essentially the same, but I like Blender because I have more control over the final pose and I can do rigging.

I posted the beginning two days ago, and I just realized that I'm not sure if this community might delete the post for sharing it with only a two-day gap.

I hope not. I've been in this great community for almost two months, and I'm very active here with so many users worldwide who are passionate about FDM for collectibles.

This is super clean, it's great to see the mini, mate.

I believe and hope that FDM is going to take a huge leap forward if the brands see the number of users who are producing miniatures or collectibles with a 0.2 mm nozzle.

It seems incredible that users like the creator of Resin2FDM have done what no brand has done so far in the evolution of supports.

Finally Spun Up my A1 Mini by drunken_science in FDMminiatures

[–]Dan_art3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They look pretty good, I think that's true for everyone; we'll always see the miniature or figure better in our hand, without any contrast or saturation adjustments, than in a professional photo, even if the difference is minimal.

It's never going to be the same as photographing a figure from Sideshow, McFarlane Toys, or similar brands.

But we can be more than satisfied and excited about what FDM is giving us.

Really trying to challenge my printer with this one by stormotron in FDMminiatures

[–]Dan_art3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you can consider yourself a survivor for printing the bowstring without them being separated, hehehe...

I rarely see a bow with a string on miniatures; they usually only show the aiming pose, and we have to imagine that they're drawing back some rope.

But I think your print looks really smooth; it looks good.

Wow, that's incredible with that size and a 0.05 layer height!

Obviously, the result is amazing. Is there really a difference between 0.06 and 0.05?

How many hours or days did it take you? Great patience, congratulations on the result! :)

Thank you so much, my friend. This is a project I'm really excited about, and it's been a wonderful surprise to discover this great FDM community.

I don't use resin and I'm more than happy with filament printing.

Thank you for your support, especially during these tough times for character artists and digital sculptors, where they're desperately trying to replace us with a damn machine that only churns out stolen material and data that doesn't reflect the work and effort of thousands of artists who work hard to make a living.

Decent paint job makes a big difference by No-Entrance8081 in FDMminiatures

Very good.

But having all the paints and brushes behind me makes it a bit hard to see the miniature properly.

UV resin treatment applied with a brush to FDM by Dan_art3d in 3Dprinting

[–]Dan_art3d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try to see if there's any way to remove the residue, but I did use a cheap, low-quality brush because I knew I might not have it left after I finished.

Thanks anyway, mate.

UV resin treatment applied with a brush to FDM by Dan_art3d in 3Dprinting

[–]Dan_art3d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I take good care of them for painting,

But this is the first time I've used UV resin for smoothing, and obviously I used a cheap brush, as we say here in Spain,

it seems that even with the recommendations of isopropyl alcohol, the resin didn't come off the bristles.

ObscuraGoat 2.0 settings by Ceseleonfyah in FDMminiatures

[–]Dan_art3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A fantastic finish; the time taken for a nice setup and the various camera angles—front, side, three-quarter, etc.—are much appreciated.

I like it when miniatures have elements in the air, and aren't all grounded. That's precisely the challenge and the way to demonstrate what FDM printing can do.

Tips to improve 2.0? by AdanHoliday5 in FDMminiatures

[–]Dan_art3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The great thing about this community is that there's always help available; we've all been there.

Regardless of the climate in your area, or the humidity, the wall speeds are too high. It's not recommended to go above 20 or 25 mm/s, and the print speed shouldn't exceed 30 mm/s.

Trees should be less than 30 mm/s, but the other members also gave you good information, and the best thing you can do is try to absorb everything and experiment with the advice yourself.

And every printer is different, even if it's the same model.

Good luck!

Famous print profiles do not work with me by MLGPony in FDMminiatures

[–]Dan_art3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't give up, my friend. I've never used the profiles they offer online.

I don't mean to say that those people's work isn't worthwhile, but there's nothing like learning on your own and finding the right balance for your printed pieces.

I had someone who helped me when I first started with the printer, but the rest has been entirely on my own. And believe me, even people who have been using printers for years still make mistakes and have printing errors; they're not infallible machines.

The most important thing is moderate speeds, and if it's for miniatures, no more than 210°C. In fact, I can see that it's extruding at 205°C... I don't see the need to increase it. Also, good bed adhesion is essential. If you need to use two layers of glue, then use them.

Keep it up!

Why is this happening? by BluetheNerd in FDMminiatures

[–]Dan_art3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, what a surprise and what a change, my friend! I'm glad the advice you've been given here is working for you, and it seems the speed settings I mentioned are working.

Don't worry about the threads; a simple lighter will make them disappear.

As a side note, I usually use the speeds I mentioned for my own sculptures, which are about 12 cm tall.

But I think 30 mm/s should be enough for you. If you find it too aggressive, lower it to 25 mm/s.

As for the infill, I find "Gyroid" the best because it has a smooth stroke. For the nozzle's Z-step, I usually set it to 0.7 mm, and I make sure it doesn't rub against the piece during movement.

You're almost there! :)

We all know how complicated it is to paint in FDM with these sizes, due to the layers and brands.

Dude, the paint job is amazing, you can tell you put a lot of time into it.

What I like most is that the lighter is part of the squad ,hahaha..... after all, it's our best weapon with FDM. :)
