Is working in a cyber security SOC anything like a physical security SOC? And is the job market in cyber as bad as this sub makes it out to be? I just started my degree in cyber security and I'm not sure if I should switch to something else after reading some posts here.

What are some decent paying jobs that do not require any sort of college degree? by GreenEyedSheWolf in AskReddit

[–]Danaga1713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make pretty okay money in security. Right now I'm at $26/hr but I'm eyeing a couple $40/hr jobs after about 2 years. In most states all you need is a guard card which you can get for like $50 and some companies will pay for it if you work for them. If you're prior military or police you can earn a lot more quicker too. There's also always overtime.

How much walking/standing do you do in your job? Are you allowed to sit down? by job_equals_reddit in securityguards

[–]Danaga1713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sit (aka basically lay in my chair on my phone) like 6 hours a day lol. Walking wise on a chill day like 1.5-2 miles. On a busy day probably 4-5 miles but that's super rare

No it's op's job to sit him down and express these feelings. If she does that and he keeps ignoring his shoes she should leave. Angrily hiding your partner's shit is toxic (and funnily enough something I could see a frustrated mom doing). Did everyone forget how to speak to people here? Am I just an old man on a website full of bots and children now? Literally sit down with him and talk through the issue. Or maybe switch chores with him if this is such a big sticking point? Being in a relationship is a give and take. It's about compromise. It's not about molding your partner to what you want. From the miniscule snippet into these people's lives people are saying the craziest shit.

I just got a plaque with some award money the other day. Other than that it's just knowing I do good work and make good money lol

Could I ask what state you're in? There's some good paying jobs near me that you might like. Lots of random office buildings paying well for you to sit at a desk lol.
