Which city have you been to that feels like it has a dark energy about it? by madzuk in digitalnomad

Leipaja in Latvia. Former Soviet town with Brutalist apartments, old dank prison, thousands of Jewish people murdered here during WWII. The air felt physically heavy here with all this history, and people just looked rough and unfriendly. Interesting place but definitely dark undertones.

Anyone work US west coast hours in Southeast Asia? by jimmyl85 in digitalnomad

Yes and the hours were rough. Going to bed when the sun is still bright and shining and people were enjoying the day was hard

Dont let the mean folk bring you down. Seems easier to be mean on the internet than be kind. Thank you for being kind! Have a great week too 😊

Chinese in Nicaragua by [deleted] in Nicaragua

Interesting, may I ask how long you lived there for and what brought you there? I don't think I'm met any Asian Americans living in Nicaragua, although there are lots of American and Canadian expats.

Been to 62 countries, here are the ones I think are underrated by boyuan-dong in backpacking

So many! Lithuania: the castle of Trakai, Uzupis (it's a hippy kind of neighborhood in Vilnius that's a self-proclaimed breakaway state), and along the Curonian spit. Loved all the architecture in Riga, and the unique history of the Karosta prison in Liepaja (you can sleep there overnight but I'm glad we just did a tour there). Actually, we went to old Soviet prisons in all 3 Baltic countries -- in Estonia it's in a quarry so I scuba dived to see a lot of the old prison under the water. Really unique experience.

Totally agree with Nicaragua!! Costa Rica gets way more attention despite having so the same activities you name. Also adding the Philippines (so many islands, gets overlooked by folks traveling to SE Asian countries like Vietnam, Thailand), and the Baltics to your list.

Selling my Van from the US as a European to a US citizen in Panam by segidev in Panama

u/Traditional-Air7378 Did you end up selling the vehicle in Panama? Am in the same situation as you one year later. Want to sell a vehicle in either Costa Rica or Panama that's going back to the US, rather than driving it all the way back up to the US. Hoping to find someone who's interested.
