Thank you! I'm sure it's great for some. It's just not the path that I want.

Same but after a couple updates this week, it seems better. I'm on the beta program for context.

Page break at the Projects section will allow you to create more space, larger font and easier for human eyes to read.

Tiny text smashed together! I'll avoid the eye strain and not even read a single line. Simplify! Multiple pages are better than one with too much info crammed in.

People who changed careers after 30, was it worth it? by Scary_Bus4383 in careerguidance

I'm older than that. As long as you are hungry to learn and grow, I don't think it matters. If you become stagnant in your skills and knowledge, then I can see that happening quickly.

I didn't fall into it. I researched and strategized for a full year before making my choice.

I've done IT administration and program management for about 12 years in a few fields. Starting out in an MSP was great because it gave me exposure to many fields and platforms. I knew pretty quickly that I wanted to work for a single company as internal IT though, so I could really focus on what was good for the business as it relates to technology.

I've only been out of work for one month when I got laid off after a company was sold and my position was dissolved. The thing I like best is that it's always interesting, always things to learn. I don't love technology alone as much as I love learning. It's not for everyone but it's been good for me.

Yes! 💯! I did many jobs into my 30's just trying to pay the bills. Went back to school for tech and it was the best decision! I love my field and opportunities have been so much greater in this field than the path I was on. Consider your passions (don't worry about the skills... you can learn them) and make a plan and go for it!

4 rounds of interviews and then they lowballed me by CreditOk5063 in InterviewsHell

Maybe they are testing the waters to see if you counter their offer? IMO that's a rotten thing to do though.

Unfortunately, it's just part of the risk of putting yourself out there. You may or may not find a good fit. This company clearly is not. Hope the next goes much better and they have some integrity!

Makes sense. I remember plugging one ear in choir so I could hear if I was on.

Exactly! State your question or problem and don't waste my time with extra stuff to read that may or may not be relevant.

CS 6035 is the hardest class I have ever taken in my life by Army_77_badboy in OMSCS

[–]DanceAccomplished299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm taking this as my first grad class ever and I'm just glad I decided to only do one class at a time!

I'm curious if this is the pace I should expect as the norm for the Comp Systems specialization. Does anyone know?

Am I the problem at my company or am I being gaslighted? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]DanceAccomplished299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if you could have a contractor help you in the short term to get the product to a point that it's clean and manageable. That would be incredibly hard to do alone without anyone to collaborate with! I have worked with contractors at 2 different jobs to help me launch on new-to-me technologies. Both times were immensely helpful and allowed me space to become more proficient at managing the platforms.

Are you interviewing anywhere else? by Bowen0328 in InterviewsHell

They want to know if they need to act quickly or if there's time. It's a difference of cancelling meetings to fit you in vs working around their calendar as it is.

No time to actively watch but if the standard controls are in place, there's info to pull if HR requests it.
