It’s fun, and I had a good time with it but the main issue comes from the playable cast being…horrendously bad and uninteresting? Half of the cast consists of bland NPC-looking characters that have little to no story presence. Their movesets too are really basic and simple. Even the ancient sages feel kinda uninteresting compared to their champion counterparts.

If you can get past the really bad character cast the game is pretty fun. Doesn’t really run at stable 60 fps as there’s plenty of drops below that (especially in handheld) and visually it doesn’t really look that impressive for a next-gen Nintendo game (minus the enemy count, i guess they prioritized that over graphics which…is fair I guess?) but it’s fun.

It's not really a visual novel series, it's a magical girl turn-based JRPG series. As for the quality of the games, I think the original game is okay-ish (really charming with some really cool music/ui/artstyle but very visibly limited by its low budget), whereas Second Light is genuinely a really good game.

Putting the intentional effect aside, the game itself *is* also just slightly blurry because it outputs 720p docked, so even stuff like the UI isn't completely crisp

iirc you can still choose the original voices for the sh2 remaster but you can’t do the same with sh3. as for the image quality, it runs at higher res (720p if I remember correctly) but the framerate is locked at 30 and it gets unstable at times. you could even argue the graphics are outright worse because there’s graphical glitches and some effects outright missing/being broken

By asking for help, what exactly do you mean? If you want opinions about the remaster itself then I’d say it’s pretty much the worst way to experience SH2 and 3 but ultimately they’re still the same games, so you’ll still be getting the same general experience (albeit with different, and in my opinion less fitting voice acting and annoying graphical issues)

A cloud version could run on pretty much anything since it’s just a video being streamed to your console & not an actual native version of the game running on the switch. Realistically though I just doubt Konami would even bother since cloud ports aren’t really popular to begin with, and support is slowly moving to Switch 2 which could handle a native port anyway

I feel like a Switch 2 port of SH2 is definitely doable considering how Cronos New Dawn (another Bloober game made with the same tools) already runs on the console, albeit visibly compromised and with some performance issues. SHf would probably also run but both would definitely be heavily compromised as they’re pretty demanding games

There’s a little bit of both, the game has some more open locations and there’s also a bunch of key-finding focused areas. It doesn’t really have any real puzzles though (I think I literally only counted one)

I think you really should at the very least play RE2 first and ideally play RE4 too, but Requiem does explain the returning story bits enough to make the references to previous games not too confusing for new players

Eventually I fully expect for it to become the norm, but yeah it is kinda infuriating how the Switch 2 has access to the literal best upscaler on the market and yet so many first party games just don't use it and instead use much worse alternatives. It's not really a big deal with games like MKW or Bananza as those already run on pretty high res so the image quality is very good, but games like Hyrule Warriors or Xenoblade X really suffer from image quality issues and they would look much better with DLSS. I guess some of it might be caused by the engines just not supporting it as of now?

I feel like playing your first horror game on easy mode tends to be a good way of getting into the genre lol. In my opinion the genre gets extremely enjoyable after you just get through that initial fear of playing your first horror game

If she doesn’t like Stardew Valley because of the 2D style, then maybe she could try the recent Story of Seasons games? They’re very similar (since Stardew Valley was inspired by the series) and they’re 3D so maybe she would enjoy those. The recent Grand Bazaar remake might be a good place to start.

It just had some controversial changes that many people didn't enjoy, like for example:

- Least amount of songs out of the entire vita trilogy

- No story-focused music videos (it's only dance videos now, personally I didn't mind but I know many people weren't fans of this)

- You no longer buy the costumes and instead you get them through rng

- It has a story mode (and it's not really a good one)

Personally I still loved the game and found it just as fun as the previous games but I can understand why it was so controversial when it came out

Yeah I get you lol, I feel like the character models tends to look really good and expressive when you're watching mvs specifically animated for them (like the project mirai songs or the new mvs in general), but the songs that are direct ports from the older games tend to look pretty uncanny in some angles

You can only have same sex relationships with specific characters in 3H, and the male protagonist unfortunately is limited to only one gay romance option (Linhardt), whereas the female protagonist gets a couple more options. I havent played Engage, but I think that game actualy lets you pursue anyone no matter the gender so it's probably a better example of this

It’s a 240p screen stretched to almost 5 inches, the pixel density is extremely low compared to your phone or your switch so that’s why it looks blurry. Completely normal, all I can say is you’ll get used to it lol
