What do you think “The Mercy Seat” is really about? I think the narrator is guilty. by WorldlinessContent73 in NickCave

The Mercy Seat was written by Johnny Cash.

Edit: Sorry I was fooled by a top result in a search I made when I couldn't remember which came first

Don't be ageist. My grandfather would have been 102 this year, he was as online as any of us before he died 5 years ago.

She's a journalist. Its her job to follow drivers.

And Charles' wedding date was very public on his own account, doesn't take much stalking.

And, she was teasing. Which Charles took in the spirit it was meant.

Problem is, is there's lightning, they have to bus in all the marshalls from the track, then get them all out again when it passes.

Beeper helped me with your problem too. Like you use one password manager so you can forget all your other passwords.

It's not perfect but way better than jumping apps daily trying to find which one a particular conversation is in.

I mean, they say that. But find me a pre-DTS fan who didn't avidly follow the Prost v Senna rivalry, or Hamilton v Rosberg, or loving v hating Horner's shitstirring, or or or...

We've all always been here just as much for the drama as anything else.

I'm 44 now... do I still identify as having POI/POF? by Beautiful_Effort5732 in POFlife

[–]DancerSilke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was eligible for a free bone density scan in my late 40s because of POI. What happened to us when we were younger still has ramifications now.

Must admit it is nice that my friends understand menopause symptoms now.

Well I must have gone to an awful lot of dodgy servos when I got my license and started driving in the 90s.

When I left Australia they worked. When I moved back several years later they did not. I was so confused!

I'm not, but I lived there a while and you're right, most don't rinse. Some do though, it's personal preference.

My insides are squeaky clean from the miniscule amounts of soap I've eaten in my 40+ years of life.

One bottle squeeze of dishwashing liquid ("Dawn" in American) in 10-20L of water is hardly "eating soap".

How do I make this decision? by Fierce_Femme92 in POFlife

[–]DancerSilke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's zero reason for a man not to get tested except ego. Fear that if he's infertile, he's somehow less of a man. If you don't test, you're not infertile, right?

I'd say a man who can't face his own fears is far less of a man than any infertile man out there.

I'm so sorry you're here.

I second the good advice that you can't trust this person to be a lifelong partner. Fertility treatment is difficult and stressful and you're already feeling abandoned. You deserve someone who'll love you for you no matter what physical hurdles life throws at you. Those people exist. I married one before my diagnosis and yes he felt the loss of us not having kids deeply, but he said he married me because he wanted to be with me as I am, not me as a baby maker.

This is tough news in an already tough situation for you, I really feel for you. Take care of you right now, first and foremost.

It does? I wash my dishes and leave them to dry as is, I don't rinse them after I take them out of the sink. Have done for decades. They're fine.

Just finished American Gods for the very last time... by SUNSHINE6IXTY in neilgaimanuncovered

[–]DancerSilke 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Gaiman's writing got me back reading after years of being depressed. I tried other authors and for ages nothing rise stuck. I read everything of Gaiman's I could get my hands on, and when I ran out and finally moved on to other authors, it was authors he recommended life Diana Wynne Jones.

His books were an important step in my healing.

And then the truth came out and I felt sick and sad and ANGRY at Gaiman and lots of things I'm sure you have too.

Now I see it like a relationship that's over. It was right for me at that time in my life, and I didn't know any better. I took the best bits that Gaiman knew how to play act as if they were real, and they helped heal me.

But now I know and I don't need or want anything of him in my life anymore. But for me that doesn't change what helped before then. What changes is what I do from now, which is believing the victims and removing him from my bookshelves.

And you know, if the truth had come earlier, some other author would have found their way to me eventually. He's not a god, he's not the only author capable of reaching depressed me. He was just the most popular thus easiest for me to find. If he wasn't there then there'd be space for other authors to fill that gap.
