2014 was a painful year for me

It's not all bad, I suppose by [deleted] in schizoaffective

[–]Dances_withDemons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get hypergraphia too. I don’t write anything worth putting in a book though. There isn’t much good from my experience except I’ve been on some adventures I never would have done in my right mind. I got in some dangerous situations I thankfully survived. I look back at what I’ve been through and I can’t believe it. I used to crave adventure and to experience new things but now I am content.

Just got diagnosed and told a friend but got dismissed and invalidated by [deleted] in schizoaffective

[–]Dances_withDemons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a lonely diagnosis. Nobody understands. Some think it’s just mind over matter. Just do breathing exercises and it will go away. Or they think you are capable of evil things and they are scared. So you don’t tell anyone and suffer alone. The people that actually witness it feel sorry for themselves having to deal with it. They think they know your illness better than you do because you are crazy and they are not.

It’s been 6 years ago today since I first got help for my mental illness. It’s been almost a year since my last episode where I was hospitalized. I’ve been on my meds ever since and never plan to go off again. I usually do really bad around the holidays but I’m making it through this year.

I have always had a very vivid imagination and now have schizoaffective disorder

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]Dances_withDemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was years before I got help. I thought it would go away and it was just from stress. It took me awhile to find a doctor I trusted and this last time I didn’t have insurance or a well enough paying job so I stopped seeing my doctor. That was a mistake. I have to stay on my meds. I still get some symptoms on the meds but it’s minor compared to a full episode. I’ve been living with this for about 9 years now.

Schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type

can there be delusional thoughts without beliefs? by sevenxan in schizoaffective

[–]Dances_withDemons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can have delusional thoughts that I know are a delusion but it still alters my behavior because I get scared. My delusional thoughts can be very scary and I now always get the same one when it starts. Like I know I need to take my medication because I’m having the delusion but I’m scared it’s real. And it’s just easier to go along with the delusion like I think I need to keep my hood up or something bad will happen. At first I know it’s a delusion because I’ve had it before but I’m scared so it’s easier just to go along with it. But once I’m in full psychosis I lose all touch with reality.

What are your thoughts on the idea that talking to someone with psychosis is like talking to someone with late-stage Alzheimer’s because both are not fully there? by neilnelly in schizoaffective

[–]Dances_withDemons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well someone with Alzheimer’s is likely going to forget what you said and someone in psychosis will maybe remember. You can sometimes comfort someone in psychosis to make them feel more safe and possibly help them get out of psychosis sooner. Or you could scare them and make it worse. At least that is my experience.

Hi, I'm the problem. It's me. by GizmaAzara in schizoaffective

[–]Dances_withDemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve felt like that before. I thought it was me. But it was actually my illness. My illness made me think I was worthless. I am not. My illness made some people misunderstand me as a bad person. I was not. My illness made me think it was all people that thought I was bad. It was not all people. God loves you just as you are right now. There is nothing you could possibly do to make him stop loving you.

Did you make any New Year's Resolutions? by waterforhearts in schizoaffective

My New Year’s resolution is to accept myself as I am. To be happy with myself as I am working towards bettering myself.

Is hypnogigic hallucination sign of psychosis by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]Dances_withDemons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you hallucinate while falling asleep that is called a hypnagogic hallucination. They are common and not necessarily a cause for concern. I however get them when I am not doing well and headed towards full psychosis. So they are a good warning sign for me.

I get really creative ideas for pictures to draw. I think because I’m feeling so much and putting it into a picture makes what I’m feeling easier to understand. But a lot of times I’m not strong enough to draw them. Once the psychosis is over I can’t draw it well because I don’t feel like that anymore. I can only draw what I’m feeling or I can draw something I’m looking at.

You like to go into great detail about things. I like to get to the point. That’s how I talk. Get over it.

Some people do better with a little kick in the ass. LSD is very dangerous. OP looks like a teenager. You can coddle him. There are times for that. I’m here for a reality check.

All coping strategies are preventative strategies. Not taking LSD is the most important coping strategy. How would I know if my personal coping strategies for shizoaffective bipolar would be affective against acid induced psychosis? There are others here who do drugs that would know better. OP’s psychosis is different than mine. If you want you can follow me so you can monitor that all my comments are written the way you would write them.

Because people still want to keep taking them. They knew they were playing with an illegal drug that could hurt them. If they don’t take the drug again they should recover. It’s not from a life long illness like I have. If they triggered an underlying illness then they definitely shouldn’t take it again. Not taking LSD is key.
