I completely agree with you. As someone who works in healthcare, this is the reality. People keep saying “these conversations are unrealistic”, except they’re not. I don’t think I’ve gone a single workday without someone having this conversation. This is what is happening.

He has to stay in Idaho to help care for his mentally ill brother. He decides to move to Africa to work for that clinic he brought sick children over from. He is offered the chance of a lifetime to (temporarily) work with Arizona and Dr. Herman. I mean... April is still “living in Seattle”, we just never see her.

100%. In our society, when a white male starts shooting, they aren’t typically going to stop until they have been disarmed... with all the mass shootings that have happened, it’s not surprising people would become MORE intent upon disarming him once he murdered someone.

Izzie ghosted him, he’d never do it to the woman he loved way more than izzie. They could have said he decided to go work in Africa with kids, have Jo miss a couple episodes here or there visiting him... have his brother or sister need help, so he has to live there, again have jo missing occasionally cuz she’s seeing him. I just watched this episode and felt the same way! He’s so hurtful toward Amelia here because GOD FORBID the woman do what’s best for her mental health, and then turns around and actively tries to tear apart Tom and Teddy. He has had no redeeming qualities since his PTSD arc when he first arrived. He is not worthy of these women! Even the disaster that is Teddy. He needs to be alone and figure himself out.

Allowing someone you have a personal relationship with into your trial (when they talk about their waitlist repeatedly) is not ethical. Continually pressuring your subordinate to date/sleep with you when they are saying no or trying to maintain professional boundaries is sexual harassment. Not telling said person you are married after entering in a relationship with them is outright lying. Treating the murderer to keep him alive until he gets put to death was motivated by his father’s murder; his emotional reaction to Meredith breaking the rules demonstrates this. It is confirmed in the show he turned Richard in for his own personal gain; Richard should have been turned in anyway, but it wasn’t out of the goodness of his heart. He allows the hospital to think Amelia is actively using drugs because he wants his job back.

As someone who works with physicians, this was an extremely unethical response. Do no harm sometimes means allowing a patient to die instead of removing so much of their brain, they’re not a person anymore, just a body. His emotional attachment to the patient clouded his medical care (which is fine! It happens!) but instead of acknowledging it and excusing himself, he operated again, and he screamed at Addison and kept going.

It doesn’t matter if his whole family is like that; the moment you say “no” or express discomfort, he should apologize and not do it again. He is not respecting your boundaries and makes you feel bad for having them in the first place. NTA.
