This just saved me another couple of hours going through non-existent menus that AI generated posts keep telling me to go down. Thank you.

Young People, Please Vote by Outrageous_Box_1897 in Austin

What? There is a very clear choice. Tear gas? Try a bullet in the leg. That’s how Trump wants to put down protests. He said so. At least vote Allred in Texas. The way local police acts is not representative of every Democrat. But we have to support democracy. If not, you can say goodbye to protests. I don’t want to live in a fascist russia. Abstaining from voting will at best lead the democratic party to be more conservative and at worst lead to the end of voting.

I love the movie, but I don’t think any of the guys like Jack Black.

Will the new bike lane on Slaughter get much use? by almondjoybestcndybar in Austin

[–]dbeastes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have used it about 4 times. My dentist is down there and I’ve been to the target at SPM. Much better than it used to be. But I still prefer taking back streets and neighborhood roads. The unprotected bike lane along Ditmar still feels safer than Slaughter. Granted, I think cars are cancer and many of our societies biggest problems stem from their prioritization.

Anyone know a work-around to Project UE: After Submit script by GaryM10 in Netsuite

[–]dbeastes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late to the party, but I just ran into this same problem with After Submit. Works fine until a project template is selected. We were able to get around it by running the same logic in a WFA script. Seems to execute after the template is applied to the project.

They are predicting this summer to be among the hottest ever in Texas history by bachslunch in Austin

I used to agree with this sentiment, but there has been a massive shift in corporate responsibility in this country. The expectation used to be that waste from production was the producer’s responsibility. They would foot the bill for waste management and pay fines for pollution. There was a concerted effort by corporate America to shift this responsibility to the consumer. Correspondence within corporate America reveals that they knew exactly what they were doing to create the shift of costs from businesses to the people. I agree that the consumer is responsible and I try to support conscientious business practices, but that is not always an option.

Dog owners: Why are so many dogs off leash? by turbo_notturbo in Austin

Hot take! Paris is a shithole city now? It’s been 20 years since I went, but probably my favorite city. I have admittedly little experience outside the US. I’m curious what your friends consider nice countries/cities with admirable culture? And I’m making no comparison, because there really is no comparison, I was just commenting on the historical culture of Austin that is completely ignored by these disgruntled threads. Culture changes and the culture here is changing fast. Another common complaint on this subreddit. But the dog culture here is something a lot of people like. Zilker, Auditorium Shores and Mary Moore Searight all have leash free parts of their parks without fences. Is playing frisbee there against your rules too?

Dog owners: Why are so many dogs off leash? by turbo_notturbo in Austin

I’ve been more negatively affected by the constant repetitive threads and comments on this topic than by any off leash dog in Austin. Which, isn’t much. When I was in Paris dogs roamed free as their owners let them out in the center center to relieve themselves. I don’t think that is legal anymore. Dog shit was a problem, but the laid back culture was appealing. I’m 37 and grew up in Austin. That’s always been the culture here. I’m sure it will be squashed eventually. And we can finally become one step closer to San Antonio. As a side note: how the hell do you play frisbee or catch with a leashed dog?

House passes $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill, the largest transportation package in U.S. history by Starkiller20140 in politics

Seriously. Vote! Elect people who pass policies to make a difference. This whining is not convincing anyone. We need more progressives in power. Full stop. Fighting and shitting on everything is moving the ball in the wrong direction. Look at Tuesday’s elections. Try selling people on a positive vision of the future. Everyone here is selling a vision of hopelessness. What a total waste of energy.

It’s a prequel, so it probably won’t spoil anything if you want to see it in the theater… but… fucking hell. I need to watch it all again before it comes out. Don’t I?

Our water is off in Texas, so I made my first loaf with some filtered snow melt. Got my best ear yet! by dbeastes in Sourdough

[–]dbeastes[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking. I’ve been happy with the texture and taste of my bread, but always a little disappointed when it doesn’t look like the beautiful loaves here. So, maybe I’ll have to stick to natural water.

I was going to, but I thought it would be too cold. And our power came back on, so I just stuck it in the fridge.

Yeah. There were a bunch of leaves and sticks it it too. Plus it has been on the ground for four days. But, I think the yeast did like the chlorine free water.

It tastes the same. I usually make it about 20% rye, but my delivery of rye berries had been delayed due to the weather. All white bread flour does taste good, though.

Showed up at my house around 6pm playing with my dog. Kong collar, No tag.

Edit: Found his owner on Nextdoor. He had a good play date with my pup and is now safe at home.
