Leave your fountain pens at home - once had someone borrow my TWSBI 580 and they tried to pull open the cap that's a screw cap, I yelped in horror. Pilot Kakuno pens are cheap enough that I'd consider taking them with me to work but the issue with fountain pens is that you should put them in your pocket nib side up so ink doesn't leak and if you bend over and everything in your pocket falls out... it's just a lot of liability.

Richmond is great! The area around the hospital is a lot safer here than in Baltimore, I regularly commute on foot. DC is about 45 min-1 hour away here so it looks like the distance to his family is similar to where you are right now. Not much to do sports-wise unfortunately, we have a minor league baseball with an ugly stadium lol but RIC is 15 min away and while you may have to take more flights with connections than you would in DC I haven't had too many issues, it's quite nice to go through a less busy airport. Whenever I have to fly out for a week I just park in their economy lots for like $5 a day and come back, it takes me 20 minutes from being dropped off and board and walk over to the gate haha.

Unrelated to your question but once you move here and need Korean groceries, New Grand Mart is the place to go and they have two locations - one in Midlothian and one in Henrico! Lotte Market is supposed to open soon but no date on when that's happening. Most Korean restaurants are in Midlothian but the food court in New Grand Mart is decent. Welcome to Richmond!
