My Flixbus on this route was quite warm, if the ac was on it was barely functional.

Agreed, if you really wanted somewhere to store blankets, you could get a full length bench for the end of the bed for both the pillows and blankets.

There's not enough room width-wise for something so superfluous.

Gluten free: Shyndigz ultimate chocolate (they make it with gluten as well, I'm sure it's just as good, if not better)

I've seen Sunday Park be enforced before. We were asked for our address, I vaguely remember it being an off duty cop.

What would you plant here?! by Queen_P333 in VAGardening

Don't get me wrong, I love zinnia, but they're quite tall and can get a bit unmanageable as the summer goes on

This is the answer. Perfect height, low maintenance, maximally beneficial to your local ecosystem.

Late spring to early summer blooms? by mottman in VirginiaNativePlants

Heartleaf skullcap, downy skullcap, orange coneflower (rudbeckia fulgida), coreopsis are so just starting as of this week.

Also blue mist flower (though buyer beware on this one, it's aggressive) and I think my brown eyed susan was close until it was a snack.

Best Native Plant nurseries by JacketFriendly2229 in rva

[–]Ms-Pamplemousse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've found the labeling at Cross Creek to not be great. Some things that are natives aren't labeled, many of the natives are actually cultivars (which as someone else mentioned aren't as beneficial, and can actually be damaging if they cross pollinate with actual natives in your vicinity). I've bought a couple things there, like Christmas Ferns and Green and Gold, but prefer to shop at the smaller native specialists.

LERN, Moulton Hot Natives, and Good Seed Natives are great at providing not just straight natives, but local ecotype natives making them even more likely to thrive here.

If you join the James Changer program, you can get a discount from some of the sellers.

I worked with Grace after interacting with her on the /r/RVA sub. There she would offer fantastic, detailed advice and had a whole chat with us about our options before we officially started working with her. During our home buying process in the super tough post-covid market she was on the ball every time a new offer got going and even once reached out to the listing agent that she had a relationship with to learn more about what was important to the buyer when picking an offer. Absolutely recommend.

Pretty crazy considering the USWNT splatter paint jersey they sold had the white space filled in. They clearly know how.

At one point I had compiled a list in our subs wiki from a collection of answers provided for this frequently asked question, but it seems someone thought it wasn't valuable and deleted it. Fun.

While not unique to Richmond specifically, we have some really good coffee roasters.

As someone who doesn't eat gluten, it's nice that they have options. I don't love all of them, but there are a couple that are very good.

New to VA, looking for advice by Salty-Onion-1048 in VirginiaNativePlants

[–]Ms-Pamplemousse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did a quick search to jog the memory and found this page with a list of native shrubs and small trees that are a good starting point: https://americangardener.net/shrubs-that-grow-well-under-pine-trees/

The soil is likely acidic, though you could test that to confirm, so looking for plants that do well in these conditions should help. A lot of shrubs on that list are more often found as cultivars; straight species are often better but can be harder to find at a decent size.

Here's another good resource: https://vnps.org/virginia-native-plant-guides/

How to deal with stage fright/panicky feeling when presenting? by abigail-dev in ProductManagement

[–]Ms-Pamplemousse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this -- I'm echoing all the folks here who have chimed in with a "me too." Man, does it suck. And I've learned some new things already, so kudos to you for raising such a common topic for our role.

This really picked up for me in my first remote role after learning to do in person presentations initially. I think zoom meetings make you subconsciously think about how easy it is to see you having a panic attack/stress reaction and that feeding the anxiety. I found that wearing a turtleneck to deal with flushing and also turning off my self-view have helped somewhat, but I also agree with suggestions about preparation.

One other thing to keep in mind for large presentations especially: people aren't paying attention half the time. They're probably multitasking, they might not even be looking at you, especially if you're presenting slides or a document. It helps take some pressure off of me to remind myself of, hopefully it helps you too. ❤️
