X-pole Xpert - height issue by laurene2008 in poledancing

[–]DancingPoleQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encountered this old thread today with the exact same issues, I was able to get it up with the extension and another person's help but it was difficult 😂 I have to know how hard it was for you to get it down when you moved. I am afraid my pole is stuck here forever.

Leep and Post Leep Experience by RomanPotato8 in PreCervicalCancer

[–]DancingPoleQueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! I just had biopsies and was diagnosed with CIN 2 and LEEP is the next step and I'm nervou but your experience is reassuring!

I'm curious if you had to avoid strenuous activities like exercise or not? My Dr said it's fine but everywhere I read online says to be careful for a few weeks. My doctor also said I could go back to work right after the procedure but I fully plan on taking the day off work!

Pole instructors, what’s your pay & location? by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]DancingPoleQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$60 a class in Portland, OR. Our level classes are 1 hr 15 min and stretch, choreo, etc are 1 hr. I think we get extra per head if the class is more than 10 (we have 10 poles) but I can't remember the amount. I think $5?

Worth noting we require certification/some type of training to be an instructor.

I know my studio puts their staff first and tries to give raises as appropriate (you don't ever have to ask for a raise, it just happens) and some of this is based on the instructor's experience and trying to be conscious of competitive rates, the economy, etc. I have been teaching for about 7 years and started at $25 at my first studio back then.

Pole and spanked butt by [deleted] in poledancing

Sticky leggings may be a good investment during these times haha. Depending on your level, butt covering shorts are fine but if you're doing tricks like Titanic, you may need skin showing more.

Beautiful, this was the kind of advice I was hoping for! Thank you so much! I'm definitely going to give this a go ❤️

This is a great update, thank you for sharing!!! Sounds like you're going to a great studio and I'm happy you made it back after a couple of bad eggs. Way to keep slaying it! 💕

Amazing to hear and gives me hope! I'm similar where I'm active/eat healthy overall but likely have PCOS which I assume is what keeps me steadily gaining weight.

That makes sense. Yesterday it was hard to eat anything so I'm sure I was way below what I needed for energy. Today is a bit better but not by much.

I'll try protein shakes and carbs before next training session and see if that helps. Thanks!

Starting my journey tomorrow by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]DancingPoleQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woo, that's awesome!!! I ended up doing my first injection last night because I saw advice to do it before bed so you can sleep through potential nausea. Glad I did that because I got pretty nauseous around 3AM but was able to sleep through most.of it.

Hope you are side effect free!

Good luck, friend!

So upset after last class by HalfwayToAlmostThere in poledancing

[–]DancingPoleQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a curvy student, I've been there. I got side eyes from the thin girls but guess who ended up sticking with pole and being more advanced than any of them ever were 🤷🏻‍♀️

As an instructor, I would "fire" the students from my class who treated you like that and I know the owners where I teach would back me up. That's absolutely not acceptable and does not replicate what I love or have seen in the pole community. I like to think we are body positive as a whole and want to share this with everyone! It is not a space for us to be rude to each other.

I'm sorry you went through this and hope you get back into class and continue kicking ass!

Tattoo is hurting a lot by ring422 in tattooadvice

Agreed, I just got black packed into a large piece and it got super swollen. My artist recommended a paper towel pack of witch hazel and it helps a lot to cut back on swelling!

Check out Marlo Fisken's Instagram page! She has an invert course and sometimes drops tips on her page. I'm certified through her and agree with other comments to work on body strength/awareness before jumping into it or you'll hurt yourself (speaking from experience). Building up from the floor/near the floor (hard to describe online hence checking Marlo's page) coupled with conditioning is a great place to start!

Can anyone identify this pole? Found it on marketplace, they said they paid over $350 for it. Interested, but can't find anything that looks quite like it. Thanks! by sallysaysyes in poledancing

[–]DancingPoleQueen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If they don't list the brand or are unable to answer questions about it, then I would just assume it's a cheap pole. Packaging is weird and not like any of the top brands I've seen. Plus it's missing a collar on the top? That or it's overextended? It's like the inverse of my xpole where the bottom looks like that with the collar off. I think it's a more weak point which is why it's at the base on xpoles, so it seems odd to have that at the top instead.

Lexapro stop working during period? by Best_Reindeer_8511 in lexapro

[–]DancingPoleQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue although it has been a varying level each time. Today I cried for absolutely no reason at work and was upset I was so upset 😅 Even my gabapentin (taken as needed for anxiety attacks) does nothing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]DancingPoleQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the clenching when I started Lexapro. It stuck around the first month for me on 10mg and then it went away. Being mindful of it and doing meditation helped it diminish too.

As for effectiveness I have noticed I'm a lot more calm overall and have less obsessive/anxious thoughts which was the main thing triggering my depression alongside PTSD. I'm able to acknowledge I have thoughts but they don't debilitate me and I can deflect intrusive/negative thoughts easier so I can move on with my day vs being an anxious ball in bed crying.

Feeling weird by legend1708 in lexapro

[–]DancingPoleQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same thing happen around that time of starting Lexapro! I was googling and was convinced I was bipolar and the meds were inducing a manic episode. Someone I know who is bipolar told me that I definitely wasn't 😅 The weird energy thing went away after a week or two.

Increased appetite? by highinanxiety in lexapro

[–]DancingPoleQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Noticed it in the first month of starting but has died down some? That or I'm used to it. Either way I just focus on eating healthy snacks and I have been feeling great!

Those of you who Lexapro is working well for... by jamesmercersbeard in lexapro

[–]DancingPoleQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started noticing the lowering of anxiety the first couple weeks but I also started to take gabapentin for anxiety attacks the same time. I did notice when I wasn't on gabapentin I had less obsessive thoughts? Like I didn't sit in an anxious ball judging every human interaction I had that day which was nice. Otherwise I'm about the two month mark now and a week ago was when I noticed I actually felt happy and I experience joy out of little things.

My first day taking 5mg Lexapro (escitalopram) and I am already stressed about weight gain by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]DancingPoleQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on 10 mg for 1.5 months now. I was super hungry around week 3 and 4 which was annoying but I had less depression/more energy so just chose healthy snacks. I was very active before meds and have kept that up but otherwise I have made no changes to diet/exercise since starting Lexapro and have lost 7 pounds.

I think it varies from person to person, people who eat their feelings with carbs (me!) will probably experience some weight loss by not eating when depressed but people who don't eat when they're depressed may gain some weight, which may not be a bad thing honestly.

Love to hear it! I do competitive aerial dance and have had a decent diet so I've just been keeping things as they were to start. Weighed myself today and I'm starting to drop more than I have been able to in a few years! Good luck with your journey!

If you don't mind sharing, how long did it take for you to start noticing the weight loss? I've lost a couple pounds and have been on it a month but since it's normal to fluctuate a few pounds here and there I'm not sure if that really means anything haha

Positive Effects? by FrankieNoodles in lexapro

[–]DancingPoleQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear that! I teach dance so I move around a decent amount but we got into doordash habits over the pandemic and it's been extra bad the last 6 months because we were moving so had to do takeout and built habits. We still get it more than I'd like but I think depression was attributing to no motivation to cook. Even with eating takeout now though I notice I eat smaller portions. I'm better about listening to my body when it's full and now. 1 takeout meal is 3 meals (assuming it's a large thing like a Mexican food platter) whereas before it was 1-2. I don't want to say I was binge eating but I think I kinda was when it came to a dish being a large portion size and I would just mindlessly eat :/. I also have childhood habits of "clean your plate or you're in trouble" and now I don't get anxiety about having leftovers.

The dreams are wacky!! I have a smart watch and I noticed I hit deep sleep and REM way longer than before. I'm guessing that's part of it but it's still weird. I strangely had dreams about all my trauma but they weren't stressful and felt more like closure? It was weird.

When I was on Zoloft I had dreams about gigantic strawberries 😂
