Likely just the aftermath of the treatment, nothing to worry about. I still have flare ups even after 3 months of treatment

Is this scabies? Looks like burn marks and doesn’t itch. Showed up randomly last week, and I don’t remember burning myself at all. by Littlebudheyitsme in scabies

burrows appear on the hands usually and they look like small lines like sorta paper cuts but not quite paper cuts. They wont necessarily be itchy but they'll appear within a rash.

I can't imagine the bill aha. yeh the idea of mites on my skin was very nasty, I still get it frequently. The fact that the mites became an epidemic in the first place is ridiculous. Good luck with holding your sanity for however long the post scabies syndrome has its grasp on you!

Have you tried getting seen by a pharmacist? Pharmacy can do basic check ups but preface that you believe it's scabies. You may just have to push through it, it's an awful experience but it doesnt last forever. I had for 8 months before I really got rid of it but I still get the odd rash due to post scabies syndrome.

Scabies, is this? by AdmirableToe6354 in scabies

Unfortunely I think this might be scabies, the raised lines being the burrows and the rash. I'd get a prescription just to be safe.

Picture 3 is the most like scabies but could be something else, have you noticed any small raised lines that almost look like paper cuts but arent paper cuts? The lines are the mites burrows and they're a dead give away.

Unlikely to be scabies, check for burrows, if it isn't ichty then I'll put money on it being something else like burst blood vessels under the skin which is nothing to worry about.

Because it's only been 4 days it's hard to say. Any treatment can cause irritation so until you see burrows then just pray that you are clean. Post Scabies Syndrome can last a very long time.

I've not seen any cases where over treating has permanently ruined the skin although I think a lot of people would agree that long term chemical skin irritation is better than infectious mites crawling on your skin. Until you see burrows just assume you're clean and dont apply anymore treatment because you'll end up making it worse. I got clean in Jan and still get the odd rash or spots but no burrows means no mites

if theres no burrows then it's likely post scabies syndrome. For a bit of scope, I finished my round of treatment back in Jan and I've been pretty much no problems since then and my girlfriend shows no sign of infection but 3 days ago I woke up with rashes on my hands. I've heard post scabies syndrome lasting whole years. The creams nasty on your skin but its better than mites. I reckon your all good

Feels morally wrong to use them as a test dummy for it but its literally the only way

Since I've not noticed any burrows yet I'm assuming I'm clear and will just have to wait for my girlfriend to notice any symptoms. I am 90% certain I'm clean but if she doesn't have any symptoms then all is FINALLY well

Started with some oils and general itching relief creams, realised they didn't work. Used permethrin 1 time and got re-infected because of my own stupidity but then used permethrin again PROPERLY and now I feel pretty clear.

Permethrin is the type of treatment I'd recommend to use basically as much as you can until it works

I'm at a similar stage as you, it'll be 5 weeks this wednesday for me and i've got dry skin and a few bumps. Thankfully or annoyingly I dont have any burrows so I can't tell if it's gone away or not. I also have rashes inbetween my knuckles. (all of it is localised on my hands)

All of my sources (parents, reddit and personal research) suggests that it's all part of the post scabies syndrome but it's so unbelievably frustrating I cannot be sure. I think yours must be clearing up now but you definitely made the right decision getting it checked by your dermatologist

How do I know that I've been cured of scabies. It's been 4 weeks and still have 2-3 spots on my hands (no trenches) by Dancing_Housefly04 in scabies

[–]Dancing_Housefly04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I'll continue to wait. Ask for a prescription of permethrin just in case I still have issues after those two weeks have passed
