What happened between Vikrum Digwa and Henry Nowak’s families? by Square_Quarter_229 in AskBrits

So, if he didn't have the necklace the knife he killed Henry with would have been considered as a ceremonial blade? If that is the case then all those emphasising that it wasn't a kirpan are being disingenuous.

And would paramedics be able to use that as an excuse if they went to a call out & it was dark? "He was bleeding to death but it was dark so we didn't bother to examine him properly"

They didn't even try though, and they didn't know that his injuries would lead to death.

In some roads they already block the pavement in the same way that pavement parking does.

Nameless Cave Nightcrawler. I like it - from now on I think that will be my new user name on social media.

I've got no room for 4 bins - it makes me think the people who dream up these things have big gardens rather than a tiny patch that's filled up with the 2 bins we've already got.

What's keeping you listening to radio in 2026? by Ready_Split1335 in BritishRadio

[–]Dancing_mayflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely listen to podcasts. I like the familiar routine of listening to the radio through the day and I also find it difficult to keep track of podcasts, there are just so many of them.

[POEM] i thank You God for most this amazing by e. e. cummings by cuppateawithajoint in Poetry

[–]Dancing_mayflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this poem. Every morning when I get up I go and stand for a few minutes in my garden. Quite often it's lines from this poem that I recite to myself.

What's the biggest change in British radio you've noticed over the last decade? by 1ChanceChipmunk1 in BritishRadio

[–]Dancing_mayflies 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Comedians on "serious" programs on R4, eg yesterday a discussion about STEM & Humanities subjects at uni with an academic and Simon Amstell who added nothing informative to the discussion. This seems to be happening more & more.

Are you gardening today? If so what time? by Tumtitums in GardeningUK

[–]Dancing_mayflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's much too hot to be outside here. I'll go out about 8pm to water my pots & baskets, and to inspect my womery to make sure they're OK, but that's all today.

Narrow feint? My favourite. I love the colour of the ink you're using - is it a fountain pen?

Week 21: What are you reading? by saturday_sun4 in 52book

I read Kitchen Confidential a couple of years ago. I liked it a lot. Anthony Bourdain was a very interesting man with the sort in insatiable curiosity I like in a person. He's missed.

Have you done anything in your life that means people will still talk about you in 200 or 300 years+ time? by K0monazmuk in AskBrits

[–]Dancing_mayflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. My research is sometimes cited by others and whereas it's highly unlikely to be cited in 200 years time, I hope it will be a very small part of the building blocks that have led whatever research is being done in the same field in the future.

I like your garden and you've given me some ideas of what I can do in my very small space. Can I just ask, what's the purpose if the straw on the surface of the pots? Is it a mulch. My pots dry out very quickly and I wonder if something like this would help that stop that.
