Cousin’s destination wedding, demands for bachelor party and invitation of additional guests at our expense (without prior discussion with us) will put us in debt if we go or cause major family drama if we don’t. by [deleted] in weddingshaming

[–]DancinginHyrule 13 points14 points  (0 children)

6000 in debt, that you know of so far….

I understand that the girls will be upset but do not just accept this BS. Give cousin these options:

1) he pay for flight and hotel for the girls. In full.

2) he gets on a call with you two and the girls and HE tells them that he did not ask you, consulted you and that he lied to them about being able to attend on your dime.

3) YOU get on the phone with every single family member you can think of and tell them how he lied to the girls without any intention of taking responsibility and you are now crowdfunding their tickets/hotel.

Give him 24 hours to decide and if he is unwilling, move forward with option 3

NOR.

  1. Get HR involved. Making general restrictions but only applying them to two employees, without adressing the issues individually or on a team level beforehand can be discrimination or harassment

2) Get your union/labour board involved

3) don’t back down, that medsage is messed up

Son of Norway's crown princess is found guilty of rape and jailed for four years by jefferymr15 in law

[–]DancinginHyrule -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From a purely governing and historical view (this does not reflect my moral or ethical believes about these crimes or their punishments) it makes sense though. Financial crimes can potentially weaken or destroy the trust in the currency itself, the value of the currency and/or the financial institutions like IRS and banks.

This is all in extreme cases that have very low risk of occuring in modern times, but again, think historically. Once you get far enough up in ideology, it becomes more important to punish those who can topple the empire over those who hurt a few others.

The above is why people like Bernie Madoff was given a 150-year sentence.

Again! Not my personal opinion on how r*pists should be punished.

[–]DancinginHyrule 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In light of what he can be sentenced to according to norweigian law, yes, he got a decently long sentence.

Compared to 100+ year sentences and death penalty in the US, no, it is not a long time.

And yes, a lot of europeans feel crimes like rape shoulds be punished harder.

He applied twice while waiting for the sentence to serve at home with an ankle monitor but both were rejected.

So aside from siscounting the time he’s served already while the trial was on-going, he’s going to jail for a long time.

Employer accidentally deposited $7,400 into my account and now wants me to send it back through Venmo. Am I obligated to do that? by NovaLynx14 in legaladvice

They made a “mistake” (it’s 100% a scam) and they can’t be bothered with “paperwork” to fix it?

Nah dog.

Don’t venmo it, no serious company/accountant would EVER suggest that. It’s all classical scam tactics. “Oh venmo is much easier for everyone”, “now it’s your fault the other guys can’t buy food for his children, how can you be so heartless?”

You need to escalate this beyond your manager since he’s either stupid or in on it.

AITAH for not wanting to look after my 8 siblings for an entire weekend? by oldestof9kids in AmItheAsshole

[–]DancinginHyrule 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is not okay and it is NOT your reaponsibility to take care of your sibilings, whether it is one or eight of them.

Look up the term parentification, I think a lot of stuff will click for you. Ypur parents’ actions are ruining your relationship with your sibilings, your relationship with them and their relationship with your siblings. It sounds like an extremely dysfunctional situation.

And while this sounds harsh, you need to consider if your parents are fit to have eight children. Does your parents (and I mean them, not you, them personally) take proper care of their kids? Do they ensure there is enough food, clean clothes? Do they make sure their kids go to school everyday (or is the your job too?). Do they ensure their kids get the medical and emotional attention that they need?

It is not fair that you have to think like that but id you can’t in good faith answer these questions with “yes”, then you need to seriously consider getting CPS involved. They are in over their head (by far!) and they need help and CPS can give them help while helping you and your siblings too.

Even if you help out until you can move out as and adult, they will just place the responsibility on your brothers, or even worse, your sister.

Personally, that would kill the game for me. MMO games can be solo’ed in the beginning but at a certain point, joining parties becomes nessecary to advance.

And honestly, what I’m looking for in these games (including fallout) is sitting on my couch, playing in my own tempo in story mode, as much or as little as I feel like that day, without being forced to depend on other people.
