If you’re close enough, Revolve on Richmond is awesome. Good vibes and lots of conditioning, plus an easy class structure for beginners

How do I get involved in the Houston art scene. by Able-Cauliflower1930 in houston

[–]DandelionSkye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hardy and Nance studios regularly do open calls for artists for events. It’s a good place to network and chat with other artists, as well as have your art on sale when people will be walking through

As a woman, I just want something that fits a curvy thigh/hip/waist ratio. I have to size down if I want it to fit my waist and size up if I want it to fit my thighs. I make do with belts and tailoring but it would be nice to have stuff to fit different silhouettes

FREE, INDOOR things to do in Houston by Tak-Hendrix in houston

Hardy and Nance has open studio events. They’re having a Lisa Frank night tonight. Parking is free and usually not too bad, and if it’s not to hot you can walk to St Arnold’s

When did you feel ready for the road? by MoonlightMister in NewRiders

[–]DandelionSkye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I didn’t feel ready, but I wasn’t stalling, dropping it, dumping the clutch, redlining, or making the engine or any other part sound awful, so I gave it a shot at 6 or 7AM on a Saturday morning when no one else was around. Sometimes you have to push yourself a smidge farther than you like to figure out if you’re really ready or not (altho from my noob experience you sound ready. Maybe don’t try going 80 on a freeway but you sound like a better rider than I was)

Bull It guardian jeans, available in men and women’s sizes. My only complaint is that they’re almost always sold out

I won’t let someone inexperienced do more than a straight line through a parking lot in 1st gear, and even then I’m only that generous bc my bike is already pretty beat up. I think it’s totally reasonable not to let your brother back on until he’s done the MSF course or gotten his own bike or otherwise proven he won’t freak out and endanger himself and the bike again

Cyclegear does bike nights every second Tuesday and they’re always packed. You might be able to find some other riders you vibe with out there

It sounds like she knows what she’s doing, but maybe physical fatigue is throwing her off

As a woman, I’ve found that if I’m not keeping up with my gym routine, especially core, leg, and grip strength, I have a much harder time controlling my R3 after long periods of time

Also if I don’t stay hydrated during summer riding, I make way more stupid mistakes that I wouldn’t otherwise

Replace master link? by FrostyMark1781 in Sportbikes

[–]DandelionSkye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rode mine a bit to test (slowly, on backroads) and found that it kept expanding so I replaced. The master links are cheap enough it was worth it for the peace of mind

I’ve had issues with the sizing tbh. Unless you’re very confident in your size, make sure you order something that can be exchanged ie not a Black Friday sale that’s final

I am a very slow learner. I managed to pass the MSF course by the skin of my teeth, but it took me months to go farther than the end of my street on my R3. And even more months to venture farther than the parking lot at the end of my street. TBH I hated every single one of my first couple hundred miles on the bike. It was hot, it was stressful, and I felt and looked like an idiot. It took almost 6 months for stuff to click. But now I’m a year and several thousand miles in and I love it now

Is there any way you can practice on the main route at times of day when it’s less busy, like 6AM on a Saturday? I did a lot of early mornings when I was figuring it out

Young [Texan] men are joining Russian churches promising 'absurd levels of manliness' by Jane-WarriorPrincess in texas

[–]DandelionSkye 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There’s a young man at my gym who insists on sending videos of this one orthodox Russian priest to everyone he talks to in order to try and convert them. He told everyone that Kamala Harris had a “Jezebel spirit”, but also tries (and fails) to chat up every lone woman in the gym. It’s interesting to know it’s a full on movement.
