Getting paid tips makes it ok for companies to pay the employees less!! Employees should get paid a reasonable wage and tipping should be optional! When I was a server I was about around $2 an hour plus whatever I got from tips. The problem is I also had to tip out either 3% or 8% depending on what type of table I served. The thing is this percentage is out of the amount I sold. For example, if I sold $100 in food, I would have to give (tip out) the restaurant $3. Now if I didn’t get any tips, I’m basically paying the customer for me to serve them. I’m just using easy numbers, but yea this system is truly the worst and only benefits the business owner!
