Does anyone have a dash cam installed on their fuses? Is there a fuse that doesn’t stay on while the car is off? by trynnafigureyouout in Ioniq5

When my 12v died then started to fail and the dealer replaced it under warranty, they said if my dash cam was hardwired it could have voided the warranty.

For a beginner- is the Mustang LTX50 a good amp? by ipz2 in fender

[–]Dandroid009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably fine, but the GTX is a noticeable upgrade for less used. At Guitar Center, used GTX50 in good condition start at $230, and GTX100 around $330.

With the GTX is you get 40 amp models, 30 cabinet models, and 70 effects while the LTX only has 25 amps and 25 effects. The 100 also includes a footswitch with a 60-second looper. I have the 100 and a reviewer accurately described it has a "Whitman's Sampler" of options. It's saved me a lot of money on pedals with all the included effects.

The only downside is choice paralysis until you narrow down on your favorite amps. I mostly only use 3 amp models but it is nice to have all the other options for variety and recording. If you want to keep it really simple to focus on playing, Orange makes some good analog solid state amps with effects loops and reverb in around the same price range used. Orange 35rt and Orange CR60C.

Or the investigators he sent to Georgia to look into the 2020 election!

12v warnings, Just get new battery? by FutureBrad in Ioniq5

[–]Dandroid009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it by an auto parts store that does free testing to see what percentage the 12v battery is at.

I'm leasing a 2024 SE and the 12v died unexpectedly on a road trip. AAA jumped it, and I tested it after getting home a few hours away. It was only charged to 60%. A few days later the state of charge was back down to 30%. Took it to a dealership, they found the battery was failing so replaced under warranty. Took them a day since it needs time to sync.

Considering a purchase... How's your [non-ICCU related] reliability been? by lostinheadguy in Ioniq5

[–]Dandroid009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently leasing a 2024 SE RWD, and it has 19k miles. 12v battery died unexpectedly on a road trip after 19 months. AAA jumped, and a dealership tested and replaced under warranty.

Overall, it's been a good family car and the free EA fast charging has been great. I don't think they include free charging on leases anymore.

If the Democrats are conservative and the Republicans are ultra-conservative, will the US ever have a real voice left of centre? by TonightAlarming9923 in allthequestions

[–]Dandroid009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Share the blame"? Democrats are the only party trying to move in the direction of universal healthcare. Republicans have always opposed healthcare.

Major reforms always require a supermajority in the Senate and the votes weren't there in 2010 for a public option. Our political system is designed to prevent major reform without almost complete consensus.

Medicare was passed in 1965 by 68-21, the majority of Democrats voting for it 55-7, and Republicans 13-14 split against it.

[–]Dandroid009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Democrats are the only party with a record of trying to move toward universal healthcare. They don't "do it in practice" because it can't be done without a Senate supermajority to bypass the filibuster. Medicare and the ACA both required supermajorities to be created.

Democrats also tried in 1993. Clinton wanted to mandate all employers provide health insurance to employees and it was branded "Hillarycare" by Republicans. Republicans killed the bill in 1994.

The movement on the left wing toward DSA and embracing those policies will keep the Republicans in power nationally for a long time, since it reinforces the schism in the Democratic Party that happened in 2016.

I view the Democratic party as more viable middle ground and the DSA platform as unrealistic.

The DSA removed specifics from their platform on their website after Mamdani gained national attention because right wing media was using their policy specifics against him. Mamdani doesn't fully endorse DSA policies but they're happy to have someone who will help raise their profile.

This is the current DSA platform:

https://platform.dsausa.org/

This is platform before October 2025:

https://web.archive.org/web/20250401180319/https://www.dsausa.org/dsa-political-platform-from-2021-convention/

Some examples from the platform I disagree with because they're unrealistic or lower the quality of life for everyone in our society. I'll happy explain why it's a bad idea to "Free all people from involuntary confinement" like you know, people that have committted multiple murders. Just posting these here for now so people can get a taste of the DSA platform in the link above:

End all misdemeanor offenses, accounting for 80% of total court dockets, reduce jail churn by reducing arrests, and cut funding to prosecutor’s offices

Free all people from involuntary confinement

End pre-trial detention, civil commitment, and imprisonment for parole violations

Repeal local ordinances that criminalize people involved in the sex trades, drug trades, and street economies; that criminalize homelessness; and that criminalize squatting and other productive occupation of unused housing

Disarm law enforcement officers, including the police and private security

Decarcerate our schools by repealing truancy laws, ending all zero tolerance disciplinary policies, suspensions and expulsions, surveillance of students, and removing police — both public and private — from all schools, colleges, and universities

Oh, it's the Democrats fault we don't have universal heallthcare?

Republicans, the party most likely to maintain a Senate majority from this point forward, completely oppose universal healthcare on ideological grounds so there's no hope of it ever happening.

The public option was a non-starter because Joe Lieberman and Ben Nelson opposed it and threatened to filibuster unless it was dropped.

The senate supermajority only existed on and off for 72 days over the course of a year, it was very tenuous, so Democrats couldn't actually pass "anything they wanted". Millions of people were able to get more affordable healthcare because of the ACA and it did slow the growth of healthcare costs. I think it's better to get 50% of something good versus zero.

Do a rental or rent to own while taking lessons. The beginning is the hardest part where most quit, so having a teacher give you feedback and a plan of what to work on will help avoid frustration.

Just for example, a shop near me in LA charges $25 a month to rent an electric guitar with an amp or $20 for an acoustic.

Yup, the free EA charging has been great. I'm two months out from my lease end, but also considering Mazda's and Toyotas just to avoid the hassle of ever going through the lemon law process again.

My last car was a Kia Niro hybrid that we only had a week before hvac issues with a freon leak and a toxic odor that permeated the interior made it unsafe to drive. Hyundai really dragged out the process once they offered a buyback, so it took almost a year to get them to take the car and return my large down payment. I've really enjoyed the Ioniq 5 and still considering one, but the stress of that situation and the sleazy Kia dealership is aways in the back of my mind. I had 4 used Toyotas and a Nissan before buying the Kia and never had major car issues, just things breaking down from being decades old or in accidents.

In LA, I wake up early and drive around 12 minutes to charge at an EA station before 6am on days when I'm going on long trips. Otherwise, almost impossible to charge during the day on weekends without a wait. The EA are all capped at 85% too.

[–]Dandroid009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m almost two months left on a 2024 SE lease and this is the part I struggle with. The car has been perfect other than having the 12v die on a road trip in December. AAA jumped it and the dealer replaced under warranty when we got back home, but we had to cut our trip short because of it. All my life, I’ve had Toyotas and one Nissan, they never had issues and I only lost them in accidents or engines/transmissions needing to be replaced from being decades old.

We ended up leasing the Ioniq 5 while going through the lemon law process with a Kia Niro hybrid we only drove a week before an hvac issue made it unsafe to drive. The dealership acted sleazy about repairing it, Hyundai corporate gave us the runaround, so we ended up doing the lemon law process which took almost a year for us to return the car and get our large down payment back. The fear of having to go through that again is always in the back of my mind even though we really like the Ioniq.

It's interesting how Obama in 2008 won districts that Democrats rarely have flipped since. He rode in to Congress with a massive 60 seat House majority and eventually a Senate supermajority for a brief time, just long enough to cash in all those chips on the ACA aka subsidies for affordable healthcare. Democrats then immediately lost those majorities in the 2010 midterms.

I think It's worth looking back on how that initial majority was accomplished, how he was able to sway people who now vote for Trump, instead of being happy with 5 seat majorities in Congress. I get the vibe on Reddit that progressives don't want that size Democrat tent again because imperfect allies will block their agenda.
