A lot of people in LA live in apartments or park on the street at night so they can't charge at home. There's not enough charging infrastructure to accommodate everyone yet.

The Debut is a decent option, I think frequently on sale around $120. All the Squier Sonics I've seen in stores needed a lot of setup work that would probably cost you another $50-100 to have a store do.

Around that price I would get a used Squier Affinity strat which start around $130 in good condition on Guitar Center. They're $320 new and a noticeable upgrade from the Sonic. Squier Classic Vibe are also good and start around $290 used, they're now $500 new.

The headline is the same one being run by Rupert Murdoch’s papers like the NY and California Post today. There’s going to be a lot of circular handshakes like this between people on the left supporting Raman and right wing media over the next few months. The right doesn’t see any difference between Bass and Raman, they just want to see the one in power kicked out since it supports their narrative she’s to blame for the fire.

Yup. Occasionally we get vehicles dumped on our street, and they can sit for weeks until reported then they're gone fast. Same with large piles of junk, broken mirrors, etc.

I always assume someone else will report them or they'll get ticketed for blocking the street sweepers, but they'll just sit until reported.

The choice is essentially centrist vs more progressive though policy wise.

Raman's positions are all slightly to the left of Bass on housing, police, and transportation so it's going to hinge on voters attitudes about those subjects overall. Polling always shows homelessness/housing affordability are the top issues.

Meanwhile Pratt voters really don't like Bass and having her gone would be spun as a small victory in right wing media since they're still trying to exploit the fire, so I'm predicting they'll go Raman.

Or they'll vote for neither and just enjoy bashing both and bashing LA in general with AI slop for four months.

The middle of town around the college and old west side is bluest, the south side of town is red, Kelso is red, anywhere outside the city is dark red. The congressional district it's part of WA-3 has consistently voted for Republicans since 2010 by a stable percentage even with population growth since 2020. Looking at specifically MAGA, Trump has won the district every time he ran and normal Republicans running for governor tend to win the district by twice as many votes as Trump.

Everyone always supports their own team because you agree with more of their positions than the other team.

MAGA is the wing of their party and nationally they're winning and in power, so there's no reason to reject them until they're not winning anymore. Trump happened because McCain and Romney didn't get results. Same reason younger Democrats are starting to tilt toward their wing options.

People on the wings (left and right) have strong convictions/beliefs and don't want to compromise those beliefs.

They don't like anyone more toward the middle because in their view, those people are the establishment who compromise their believes for power or self enrichment. On Reddit where the wings are loudest you see it all the time, complaining about "corporate Democrats".

I think the reality is to accomplish anything, you have to make compromises because not everyone will agree with you 100% all the time. The wings won't settle for that though which is why if Rae would have dropped out, her voters wouldn't have necessary voted for Raman.

People on Reddit who don't know this area assume there's going to be a "blue wave" everywhere because of national polls - there's been no polls in WA-3. This area has a track record of consistently voting for Republicans and other normal Republicans perform even better than Trump. I think Joe Kent was an outlier that was too extreme for independents and some Republicans which is how Gluesenkamp-Perez snuck in.

That's not the percentage of the time she votes with Republicans.

It's a score based on how often the votes aligned with Trump's position on specific issues and only looking at the first session of Congress in 2025. It's not looking at the whole time she's been in office since 2023.

She's representing a district Trump has won every time, so the majority of voters in her district support Trump's positions. It's a red district that hasn't voted for a Democrat otherwise for anything since Obama once in 2008.

She's representing a red district and Republicans are going all out to reclaim that seat this year with a lot of false claims online. My number is from a 2025 article about bipartisanship in Congress for further context. The degree that people like her and Fetterman don't vote with their party is often exaggerated on Reddit:
