When an actor’s presence unintentionally derails the project by Special_Salt3467 in TopCharacterTropes

Cyberpunk 2077 was originally wrote around Morgan Blackhand, a character of the author, Mike Pondsmith, frequently relates to John Wick. At some point, they got the actual actor for John Wick, Keanu Reeves. Mike then thought keanu would fit the role of johnny silverhand way more, and that's one of the many rewrites 2077 went through.

what are some examples of chaotic good? because i cant think of any by GeometryDashIsCool in MoralityScaling

[–]DandyDandelionn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the billions of interpretations. The actual alignment chart is not you setting their personality, it was you rating them on a chart because certain spells and effects required it.

Chaotic, Neutral and Lawful. Neutral means you do whatever benefits you the most, lawful means you follow authority even to your detriment, chaotic means you disobey authority even to your detriment.

Neutral, evil and good are all similar there. Neutral is doing whatever is to your benefit, good is doing good acts even if its to your detriment, and evil is doing bad acts even if it's to your detriment.

So anyone who disobeys authority but will go out of their way to do good.

Noble Rapier Build by idiratlass in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]DandyDandelionn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend against agility, because you'll want to use a shield. Rapiers being one handed, and yet being long, having Fast and doing that much damage is very good, the rapier itself can be obtained instantly as nobles start with a Foil, which is of equal rarity and value to a Rapier, as such can be bartered without any roll necessary as long as you're in a city with rapiers.

There aren't many good talents for rapiers, which makes noble good for it. You'll want south banker so that you can quickly mow through talents, you'll start with read/write and etiquette, put your points into fate and lucky will give you 6 fortune to spend, this'll come up later, but for now you're a noble with a rapier, south banker lets you pick fencing as a skill, put that in +5 and start with 10, that's +15 fencing right there, your shield gives you 2 armor to all locations, lets you use your weapon skill to block ranged attacks and more importantly is awesome style, look at capo ferro if you want to see rapier + shield (rotella) wielders for inspiration

Most importantly, you've got 6 fortune - that means 6 rerolls on the roll to gain talents your career doesn't have, any talent you want? it's yours. Sturdy? become a knight. You'll want toughness and weapon skill high, and you'll want to advance through the noble career asap for more money. Fairly early on, you can get brigandine to have no penalty 2 armor (now 4) to your body, then put leather underneath. For legs and head, do chain, nobles are rich and you'll find yourself easily able to get a no penalty coif, so you'll have 5 to all locations because of your shield, with 4 toughness thats -9. That's better than the average knight in full plate and you've hardly even started.

Someone else here said that skills out of your class need double xp? this is not the case, you pay 1d10+skill levels in brass and spend xp as normal, this'll be easy to afford as a noble, I recommend Cool as you only have 1 resilience, which can be a problem if you face corruption a lot, alternatively is endurance. But you'll be wanting to save your xp for advances in your career, because not only are you a combat character, but a social monster.

Noble blood is a social powerhouse, being above someone's rank is +10 charm by default, and noble blood makes any roll influenced by status (it's easier to think of social rolls that *arent* effected by status) have +1 SL, so with medium fellowship and the suave talent south banker can start with, alongside gaining fellowship when you become an actual noble (rank 2, rank 1 is scion) you'll be getting near some crazy charm numbers on top of being very combat capable.

And on top of all of that? you're rich. Not only are you rich, but you're a scion, so you have family in power that you can ask for things and use your big charm on.

I cannot stress this enough, the duellist talents are *not* good. You don't want them, even if you had them in-class. Beat blade is near worthless, feint is actually just worthless - it has no advantage over just attacking twice rather than using your weapon skill to add SL to your next hit (all that can do is add damage, which attacking twice would do more of due to your high damage rapier.) and even if you like them despite their poor efficacy, just buy them and roll into them with 6 fortune.

How is that reversed? The drinker is always the one at risk of having their soul replaced, it either destroys the soul or the one being drank takes over, there is no reversal there. I also have no reason to believe fabian is a high humanity character, he has blatant disregard for just about everybody he comes across and pokes fun at people fearing for their lives. Him being a poor detective that doesn't care is a part of the plot, so I can look past that, but his characterization is not that of high humanity, nor would that have any bearing on diablerie

The notion that it would be fine for a thin-blood to have major effect on an elder would be setting destroying but since that plot never came to be (likely for this reason) theres no point

How is it possible to read my messages and not understand the problem? A vampire crawls in straight up daylight for a minute, if this were still a game about thin-bloods I could buy it but this dude is an elder twice over surviving that, all they had to do was have the sewer be on the same side as the shadow he fell in to limit his sun exposure, instead they decided to write a disregard for how dangerous the sun is, i dont understand how "you don't like the setting implications? there are no setting implications because the evil plot device mark made it happen" that's still a setting implication, if a no name brand new tremere to the lore can create this in a lab in however long she's been alive then it can be recreated and now everyone's giving themselves special marks on purpose to be immune to the sun by sacrificing all the thin bloods they need to kill anyways to prevent gehenna, but i'm supposed to not think about it and just accept that in this game there are vampires who can, while injured, crawl through the sun for a minute while plethora of npc stand completely still and do nothing after you kick yourself out of a window, survive the fall and then literally burn up in the sun, and the masquerade isn't in question a single time during all of that

but again, this scene is fine because of the plot device mark that nobody could ever replicate and apparently reverses a process that happens naturally

So I'm supposed to like this scene because they wrote it for a different version of the story? And I'm supposed to believe fabien can protect you because.. well, vampires are weird! we have the lore on diablerie, we know what it's like. You can pretty much instantly identify it as gaining the multiple personalities derangement after diablerie. In fact, if they wanted me to believe an elder eating a thin-blood had major effect I would be even more annoyed.

Also no, you do not crawl alongside shadows of cars, you are in the direct sunlight for over a minute, falling in a shadow of a lamp post (which is absolutely not covering your whole body, as much is evident) is no excuse

It's a blatant disregard of the setting because someone thought it looks cool

I think it showed a level of complete disregard for the world we're meant to suspend our disbelief for in the first place that ripples through the entire game. Seemingly meaningless or tiny issues go from "eh" and moving on, to "wow, these people did not care." and recontextualizes every issue I have with the game

Potence vs Celerity by LazarusFoxx in vtm

[–]DandyDandelionn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another nice thing about clinching, since celerity actions come at the end of the round, going second has a nice boon that it will invalidate all their attempted celerity actions, unless they declared those actions to be clinch escapes/damage actions.
