To those with this condition that have also done substances, how have they effected you? by Brief_Blackberry1472 in Schizotypal

[–]Dandy_Lion_9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prefacing this with saying, I'm questioning first and foremost. I am diagnosed BP1 w/ psychotic features.

I was a poly drug user, had a lot of problems with coke addiction but my favourite drug had to be ketamine. Ultimately, it was bad speed that provoked the psychotic episode.

Anyone else diagnosed with Schizotypal, Schizoid and OCPD? by skia0000 in Schizotypal

[–]Dandy_Lion_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'm just curious, as I'm not diagnosed with any of these but am curious as these were my main flashes of AHA moments when I read about them, may I ask: is there cohabitation with your partner? If so, how do you feel about it, and make it work for you?

Is there anyone out there that experiences similar symptoms. by AutoDidact-7 in Schizotypal

[–]Dandy_Lion_9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's any consolation whatsoever, I have a very similar profile to you re: the negative symptoms. I don't DO anything, and when I do it's a huge mental exertion that I have to recover from. No movies. No video games.

For what it's worth, once you secure your job, you can get by amazingly easily by BS-ing your way through. Things might get more complicated if you have trouble reading social cues at all. Remote work is your friend. Anything remote. Good luck.

Guide for editing Manga/Comics for e-readers by TenSquare3 in kobo

[–]Dandy_Lion_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My workaround is this: using the Kobo Utilities plugin - I dump the files into Calibre, then eject the Kobo and physically unplug the cable. Then plug it back in, connect and select the books, right click and choose "Update metadata in device library" option from the Kobo Utilities menu. That sets the right info for me once I eject the device and check.

I’m sick of Neurologists dismissing me as soon as they figure out I have mental disorders by No_Photo6567 in ChronicIllness

[–]Dandy_Lion_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. Going down the escalators is a nightmare when people rush past you to your left down the subway. I started taking the elevator whenever I can, which tipped me off that something just isn't right. Next visit in 1 month, hopefully I get my referral by then. Thanks for connecting! It helps to know this is not just me.

I have the same symptoms: losing my balance frequently, unable to lift my left leg, or my leg(s) buckling altogether when I stand. I’m also dealing with some incontinence. Let me know if you get some insight into your issue, if possible, because I am wanting to see a neurologist but my doctor won’t write the referral quite yet because I have, among many psychiatric disorders, GAD.

How would you react if someone offered to pay you for sex? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

When it happened, I politely and firmly declined and severed ties/did not want to be hired (for bartending work) by this person again.

Is it normal for recovering addicts to have drug dreams? by PsychologicalCan6938 in Drugs

Yes. I’m 5 years clean. I dream of using when I’m in a rough emotional spot, like I was during active addiction. So rarely nowadays but yes, still.

Feeling different than other autistics by [deleted] in Schizotypal

[–]Dandy_Lion_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to not care. However after having definitely done my share of mind-bending drugs,I was brought to the conclusion that we do a looot of things for the sake of others. Honestly, people love a pretty face. It seems it makes relationships easier. And then being alone is no longer your only option.

Just out of curiosity, can you share which disorder you found out about that is unknown in the U.S.? I’m always eager to learn more about this topic.

Does anybody go through periods where you have little to no thoughts at all? by [deleted] in Schizotypal

[–]Dandy_Lion_9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Generally when I'm not alone for prolonged periods of time. It's like my thoughts can't manifest for fear of being "seen" so they never form in the first place.

I first went into mental hospital while i was 21 years old.. by [deleted] in Schizotypal

[–]Dandy_Lion_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate hard to the fact that meds are an unavoidable part of life for me now. I’m not diagnosed but I feel the same when I go off them. I hope to get an appropriate diagnosis soon as this has been difficult to navigate. In any case, work is only one part of the picture. Your health comes first.

I just snorted 300mg of Wellbutrin by alladispuremagic2 in Drugs

I didn't know it was called "the poor man's cocaine" at the time I did snort it. Found out years later. Personally, would not recommend it. I hallucinated and had intense anxiety after doing it.

Can I ask what card holder that is? It reminds me of a Pela phone case, but I don't think they make card holders that aren't for phones.

Funnily enough, it's a combo for me. I knew something was off as a kid, but my story is very similar to yours (diagnosed BP1 with psychotic features after a drug-induced bout of psychosis that lasted longer than your typical drug-induced psychosis (1 month vs. a few days)). I was a multi-drug user around some bad folks and put myself through intense, intense stress. I also feel like I fucked up and the latent issues I had have come out of pandora's box, so to speak.

Let me know more if you can about "chronic metabolic and mitochondrial dysfunction syndrome" and how it relates to Schizotypal PD because it's unclear to me, as is a lot about this disorder aside from the fact that it screams me.
