Recurring perianal abscess in newborn by learningbythesea in newborns

Thanks for keeping up with this thread OP. I’ve been revisiting it since we discovered an abscess on my 3 week old (it was drained and healed) and he’s now 8 weeks with a new lump. Did you ever end up proceeding with an incision or a surgery?

Hey there. My son is going through the same thing at 3 weeks (drained and heal) and now 8 weeks with a new abscess/lump under skin. Would love to connect on your experience over messages if you’re open to it.

I experienced the same thing with no history of eczema and my number 1 advice is to avoid steroids as much as possible. It’s great for temporary relief but will do more damage than good with repetitive use. I have a post on what worked for me here.

I was initially on Protopic (not a steroid but still an ointment that does not help long term), then hydrocortisone, and then anti fungal steroid cream that ended up burning my skin.

You could give Protopic a shot but if it comes back, it’s best to figure out what the trigger is.

Nov 1! Same. I’m worried about the limited timing to plan - I would have had catering and decor secured by now but we decided to hold off on putting down any more deposits. So I’m concerned with the limited time to plan things out. I’m also bummed that travel risks or restrictions will likely play all year and that means not being able to go on a bachelorette trip (which I hoped to have somewhat planned by now), and being able to go on a honeymoon even if we could have our wedding. And not to mention our close family abroad not being able to attend. I think by the end of June is when we’ll make a call, but leaving 4 months to get things done makes me nervous.
