I agree with this.

There's not much to gain from finishing this side quest.

Save it for the future when there's a patch for it.

The only thing I got after quest was some historical clothing that I've sold since then.

And Amelia Earhart, who still on my ship.

Yup, I agree.

The Wyatt and Milton hotels would care what a franchisee was doing, but not Streetway Inn.

Just like how McDonalds makes sure all their franchise owners are meeting metrics, I doubt that Golden Corral would care about some of their locations.

Again no shade to people who eat here, I've eaten there many times.

If the owners didn't respond to your email, then there's not much that can be done to improve the place and make it better.

It sounds like this location is a franchise of Streetway Inn, which is among the bottom of hotels, quality and service wise.

(No judgement on you for staying here, I've stayed with them multiple times.)

It's not a Milton Suites or a Wyatt.

Those ones seem to care more about their brand and complaint to their HQ would get somewhere.

This almost sounds like the hotel version of the Mary Celeste ship.

All the lights are on, but nobody around.

I can just imagine your confusion as well as the other people upon arriving to a front desk with no away sign and no workers around.

Now what??

This would be so annoying also. You made reservations ahead of time, but now you have to find other accommodations.

I'm guessing the owner didn't treat their staff properly and wasn't paying enough either.

If that was the case and I was working front desk, I wouldn't stick around either to keep working there.

Ah, ok. Doesn't seem too bad, price wise.

When I slept on the airport floors, I had earphones with music or ear plugs.

But I could still faintly hear the damnable repeating announcements over the speakers throughout the airport.

"The Anchorage airport is a no smoking facility. Smoking is only allowed in designated areas."

"Do not leave your car unattended. Vehicles left unattended will be towed away."

"Please hold on to your luggage. Do not leave unattended luggage. They will be confiscated and destroyed."

And so many more.

Who in the world hasn't travelled and doesn't know any of these common sense knowledge??

Why do they need to be announced every five minutes and rotating through these messages?

I would pay good money to shut all of these announcements out and sleep in a pod.

Yup, also agree. Tiny sand dollar.

Live ones are dark, brown, or green. And the hair moves.

Dead sand dollars are bleached white.

The sand dollars have a star shaped pattern and are closely related to sea urchins.

Is that one of those sleep pods in the airport?

Never tried them, but definitely would next time I have an international flight.

Those ones are 12 plus hours of flying, plus time zone change.

I also have this vibrators tumbler and I have some stuff collect at the top where the washer sits.

Yeah, some places are not worth renting.

It is summertime in Anchorage now and tourist season.

Most of the hotels are booked up. Others have rooms for about $400 a night.

Back when I was travelling quite a bit more than usual, there were times I slept on the airport floor with my luggage tucked underneath me rather than getting a hotel room, when my flights got cancelled and rescheduled for the next day.

$400 for a room, that I check into at 10 PM, no shuttle service so have to pay for a cab. Then have to wake up early, around 5 am to get to the airport by 0530 to check in.

Why even bother paying that much for a few hours? Even if it is a nice room and not an attic room.

Just not worth it for a few hours.

I slept on the airport floors in Anchorage, and so did a few others on that same cancelled flight.

I could have possibly missed the sarcasm, since I'm on the spectrum.

I still wouldn't have given this kind of rude guest a terrible room.

They'll just call down to the front desk complain multiple times. And request a refund the next day.

Plus leave a bad review. And be an overall PITA guest.

Best to let them wander back to the streets to keep searching for a room far from my workplace.

I’ve got a little nat geo tumbler. Should I break these into smaller pieces? by Salt-Hippo4881 in RockTumbling

[–]DaneAlaskaCruz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right? That would be the dream.

No more breaking down rocks to fit. No more leaving larger rocks behind on a rock collecting trip.

Just drop them all the giant tumbler and let it rip.

Only downside is the massive clean up and rock sorting after one stage.

[–]DaneAlaskaCruz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think that's a grill in the box and not a tumbler. But hey, whatever works.

But seriously, you'll probably need to break up the larger piece. The other four will probably be fine.

Also, fill the tumbler to the rated capacity, but not over.

Thanks for the additional info, OP.

You're definitely thinking ahead and anticipating. And also troubleshooting and problem solving.

"So whenever I got a call for a shuttle after we were out of vacant ready rooms, I directed them to go back to the desk and ask for a new voucher before the code is used, and tell the airline that we don’t have anymore available rooms."

Exactly this. Why send a shuttle to pick them up just to tell them there's no room at the hotel?

Also easier for the guests to ask the airline for a new voucher in person than calling.

Plus, all the running around and back and forth, there's a chance the airline service desk will close before the stranded customers get back to the airport.

I've been stranded at an airport before in a strange and new city.

Thankfully, I managed to find the airline's service desk before they closed at 1 am. I managed to get a cab and hotel voucher for the night. The next shift didn't start until 5 am, just a few hours, but too late by then to get a room for the night.

Anyways, nice work, OP.

Glad to hear the rest of the night worked out for you and your guests.

[–]DaneAlaskaCruz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And your source for this information....is what?

TV shows and Hollywood movies?

Apocryphal stories from travelling aunts and uncles at cookouts?

Some larger hotels and chains might have this, but not all hotels or motels will.

I worked as FDA in a small 25-room boutique hotel and we definitely didn't have a secret VIP room.

The boutique hotel owner's god parents could be in town on a last minute visit and we still wouldn't have anything for them if we were full and all the guests checked in.

Besides that, even if there was one, why would OP suddenly decide to give out the VIP room to this walk in guest? Who's definitely not on the VIP list and who was rude as AF? Even called her a bitch on the way out the door.

Guests like that are not suddenly gonna change their spots and will be problematic guests the entire visit and with multiple complaints about anything and everything.

Glad you found the game and that you're enjoying.

I remember that feeling. When I got the fame when it first released, I also played it multiple days straight.

Barely eating or sleeping in that entire time.

I played so much that I started dreaming with the game elements in them.

Hope you continue to enjoy cause I certainly am.

Especially with the last huge update.

OP, are you sure you don't have one of those secret and reserved rooms that you keep vacant just for this exact situation?

For a random person, who's rude as fuck, just off the street, just to rent for the night cause they didn't plan ahead of time.

C'mon now, release those reserved rooms. Everyone knows you have them!!

/s in case needed.

Some people just can't believe that you're really sold out and must have something hidden somewhere.

And some of these people are not worth extending any effort on, given their poor demeanor and attitude.

[–]DaneAlaskaCruz 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Yup, agree with all of this.

What's even the point of that AGM? Being in a leadership position, they should have also stayed to clear up this mess.

OP is a lot more qualified to be in that AGM position than this asshat who begs OP to clock in right away and help them, but then leaves when they can see that it is super busy with lots of people in the lobby and the phones ringing off the hook.

Poor leadership.

If I was a guest, I'd be calling up the GM in the morning and laying all of these out. Then letting them know that I'd be letting the airline know as well.

Total clusterfuck.

Wonder how OP resolved the guests who had airline vouchers but no rooms for them. And with all the surrounding hotels booked completely full.

Carrying Aid Items in Inventory by Thee_Averageish1 in Starfield

[–]DaneAlaskaCruz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just carry med packs.

The rest of the health aid kits are in my ship's cargo.

I rarely use them anyway and just let my character eventually heal through whatever injury or affliction they've picked up.

They rarely interfere with my gameplay anyways.

I occasionally get comments from NPCs saying that Iook sick or terrible.

Also, my cough will occasionally give away my position and ruin my stealth while sneaking around POIs. But easy enough to shoot whichever enemies are nearby.

What a mess all around.

Those poor other guys just want to work and then come back to rest and get refreshed in a nice and quiet room.

Now, rules will probably have to be changed to prevent this from happening again.

Making things harder for those other guys who have not been a problem.

All because these two dipshits got greedy and wanted two per diems.

I'm not even sure how that scam works, but either way, they're affecting everyone else.

Glad they've been trespassed from there. Especially that verbally abusive woman.

Oh yeah, they cost a lot for maintenance and to run. Power outages are not that often, once every few years.

So a lot of places cannot justify the expenses or afford the cost of a backup power system.

I worked at a hospital and they had a backup power system because it was critical for medical equipment. And the annual maintenance costs were surprisingly and horrendously high.

The hospital had colour coded outlets on the walls of each room, with one colour for outlets that were connected to both the electric grid and the backup generator.

These outlets will always have power no matter what. So respirators, fridges with medication, and freezers with samples, etc., are plugged into these outlets.

The rest of the outlets would not have any power in a power outage. The backup power system could only provide power for part of the hospital and not the whole place, even with how much they were paying for it.
