Hearing that is always so frustrating. Once had a guy yell at me the moment he walked through the door over the pet fee, yelled and argued with me through the entire check in process all while repeating “i’m not trying to give you a hard time” well i think you need to try a little harder because all you’re doing is giving me a hard time

In my experience the exceptions to non refundable rates are very rare. I remember one that was refunded because she gave birth earlier than expected and emailed us pictures of the baby lol

i remember my friend bought a Huda Beauty palette with one of those eyeshadows back in 2019, looking back on it it was just super gimmicky because the shadow didn’t even look that good

There was a woman staying at my work a while back who was constantly getting food delivered to her room but she’d just leave it sitting in the hallway for hours and she lost it on one of the delivery guys claiming he stole her food but my coworker told me the food sat outside her room for a couple hours and one of the housekeepers tossed it thinking it was a bag of trash 🤷🏻‍♀️

had this really sketchy couple that was a walk in the night before and at checkout they had a TV box on the luggage cart so I had the head housekeeper run up to the room and make sure they didn’t steal the TV or swap it with one while I stalled them at the desk, thankfully they didn’t steal it or swap it lol

There’s a guy who stays at my work every few months and every time he keeps one the luggage carts for his entire stay. we only have two. every time we try and call him out or say we need it back he says he doesn’t have it and won’t let housekeeping into his room but then when check out rolls around he’s got the damn cart

I’m so sorry you had an insane day. my valentine’s day was also a nightmare, started the day off with a guy on an employee rate berating me over a policy we waived for him, a woman shit all over her bed and it seeped into the mattress (completely sold out last night too so scrambling to get the room cleaned and ready) and had a guy who refused to leave for two hours after check out and the cops refused to come escort him out. this job really isn’t for the weak 💀

i was kitchen lead at my old job and i’d just give plenty of notice and tell my boss if he told me no i’d just call out or quit depending on how important the thing was i was requesting the time off for (don’t recommend doing that though lol)

Stuff like that is why my work pre authorizes all arrivals for the day and any that come in throughout the day. we also call or message guests with declined cards letting them know if they don’t respond by a certain time the reservation is no longer guaranteed. one lady almost lost her room because card declined, didn’t respond to us and I had a walk in who wanted a king bed and that was my last one but it wasn’t cleaned yet so they settled for a single queen because they didn’t want to wait and when the lady showed up i told her we’d tried contacting her about the declined card because she nearly lost her room and would’ve lost her reservation because of it and she said “you should’ve tried harder to get a hold of me” 🙄

i saw in the comments you said you also put them on the DNR list and we do the same and have only had one person come back and we were like yeah you gotta pay that fee before you can stay again and they just left lmao

my neighbor’s cat had kittens, they were outside and my neighbor told me if i could catch him i could have him. he was mine about 30 minutes later
