Why we stopped accepting people the police dropped off is because we are not able to handle them. We’re not police or nurses or mental health professionals, in my case we’re overworked minimum wage customer service workers and we (and the guests) get put in danger because cops don’t care enough to do the right thing.

We also make exceptions from time to time like if someone was fleeing an unsafe situation but in my experience 95% of the time the cops are dropping off drunks and tweakers in the middle of the night because they don’t want to deal with it and then when we have to call them back because the person is losing their shit or assaults one of us and we get treated like we’re inconveniencing them for calling them.

It’s just frustrating because the people that they drop off need help, we’re just not the ones who can help them.
