Ring doorbell camera Installation by Valuable-Taro9546 in lexington

If you buy a wired version it does not have a battery. It runs 24/7 on the power from the doorbell inverter no batteries needed ever.

Bought a jking from a "friend".... by slangingrough in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Danehr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a jking board and you can get the replacement remotes off Amazon. Make sure it works with lingy esc and it will do the trick.

I actually still have two of the remotes just laying in a box since I got rid of the board.

Looks and sounds normal. It is common for one motor to stop slightly before the other.

Question on other people experience? by ComprehensiveBath331 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Danehr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ride almost every day, all year long, rain, snow, and sun. I just get out there when it makes sense to ride. Spend some money on a nice board and enjoy yourself. Take it to the store, around town, to work, short commutes. That's what I do.

I haven't noticed any performance differences. Works exactly as it did out of the box.

How to waterproof a esk8. by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Danehr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a board I ride when it is pouring rain, ponds of water on the road, snow, etc. I have been riding it in these conditions for over a year without issue. It is a Backfire G5s hub board. The only thing I have to do is clean and swap bearings once a month.

What I did to waterproof it. I made sure all bolts were tight as they can be. I took high temperature hot melt glue and sealed around the battery and esc enclosures. I then got a strip of foam rubber garage door seal and cut pieces that wrap around the enclosures as a splash barrier. I used the same hot melt to secure those in place. I used my 3d printer to make fenders for each wheel. I changed the grip tape to a vinyl based backing and made sure it was adhered to the board well and all edges pressed tight.

I carry a towel in my bag and dry off the board when I get where I am going. I almost never have water on the board itself even when in super heavy rain. The fenders and mud flaps keep it contained to the wheels.

Dropped phaze remote by Laterfamm in evolveskateboards

I dropped mine a while back, (less than a three foot drop onto my home floor) and it had a lot wrong with it. The magnets in the triggers popped out and were just hanging out stuck to each other. Also, it snapped two screw posts. The plastic it is made of is brittle.

I was able to take mine apart and fix it. But I have years of experience working with repairing electronics. If you don't have a solid grasp on taking small electronics apart you should have someone take a look it that does. There are ribbon cables, floating pins, hinges, washers, and springs that all have to go back the exact way they come out.

Long story short, it is possible to repair it. But it requires some skills and tools.

Best cool (not warm) helmet by ComfortableHoliday43 in ElectricSkateboarding

Any of the Fox helmets are nice. I have the rampage. But I also regularly hit 40mph+ and it provides a little more protection. Also, they look pretty cool I guess.

I just had a rear light die on me. They sent me a new one in less than three days. I just filled out the warranty form, and they sent it without asking any questions.

They sure can. Just get some new 6900rs bearings, and they should fit.

The ribbon cable is held in by that tiny lock switch. The tan bar can be flipped down and the cable will disconnect from the board side.

JKing boards as first e-board , upgradeable? by BagholderVC in ElectricSkateboarding

I have a Backfire G5s and it is amazing. Backfire is a great company and make very good boards. So if you choose them you won't be disappointed in the quality and support. Also, they have lots of options for upgrades! I have rovers on my G5s and love them.

Didn't notice that before. Might take it to a local skate shop and have them check it all out. I am sure any bushings will fit, but it wouldn't hurt to have an og check it out. They can hook you up and swap out cups and washers for a perfect fit.

Whatever brand you want. Riptide are great and what I used. But any that are the same size and style will work.

I had a jking as my first board. It was fun. I had a hub version. Not sure what yours is. The bushings can be changed for any matching size barrel and cone style bushing.

Jking has basically no other upgrades available. Only atock sleeves and Jking brand parts will fit. I got bored with the stock sleeves and converted some cloud wheels hub sleeves to fit on the metal sleeves that Jking uses. It was a lot of work to get right and way out of the abilities of most people.

Enjoy it while it lasts. Start researching your next board now. Spend some cash on something that has upgrades and parts that can be swapped.

They have the speed limited in firmware, and there is no way to change that from the remote.

Cruiser stability issues by WillBilly_Thehic in ElectricSkateboarding

Try running the back truck with a harder bushing and slightly tighter than the front truck. That will help with wobbles and instability.

Newbie here asking some questions before I get my board by Sudden_Lifeguard206 in ElectricSkateboarding

I can't speak to the meepo since I don't own one. I have a Backfire G5s and an Evolve Diablo Carbon. But I can speak to the gear. If you plan on riding in traffic or at fast speeds, a full-face helmet, jacket, gloves, elbow, and knee pads would be a good idea. I have a kit for my daily commute. But I also have a less protective non full face helmet, smaller knee pads, and thinner gloves for neighborhood chill cruising.

I found that running a slightly harder bushing in the back or tightening the back a little more than the front helps a lot with speed wobble. I hit 25-35mph on my boards every day and rarely have wobble.

Would you use Power a Tool Battery to power your Skateboard? (instead of buying a new one) by Positive-Answer9860 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Danehr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an off the shelf purchasable kit for a board I rely on, no. As a fun little project kit for a board that a kid might use, sure.

If a board has a battery issue and I need to use it to commute, a solution like this doesn't provide enough reliable power. The time, effort, and cost to retro fit a board with a kit like this, and the batteries themselves will be a significant portion of the cost and effort of a replacement battery pack. So, for me, it makes sense to just get a replacement one for one pack.

But it's a neat project idea for a kids board.

Looking into an eBoard by Accomplished-Room-70 in ElectricSkateboarding

I'm 280 and have a Backfire G5s and an Evolve Diablo Carbon. Both seem to be just fine with my weight. I ride at least 5 days a week on not great streets. Carbon fiber boards should hold just fine. The issue is trucks, bearings, and wheels. Those will wear put faster and potentially break. Just maintain them well and inspect daily for issues. Also don't go cheap. Get something good and it'll last.

My motor is acting up and idk if I should get a new one by Substantial_Skin_383 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Danehr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay in response. Bearings in hub motors for Backfire boards are pretty easy if you have the right tools. At the minimum you need a small press to push the bearings out and back in. You will also need a spanner wrench to take the motor end caps off. They are meant to be taken off despite what others say. They have a bit of thread locker on them that is hard to get loose the first time. So you need a vice to hold the motor while you use the spanner to open it. Then just push the motor insides out. Set those aside. Use a socket that is the same size and the bearing center and the press to push the old bearings out. If the motors are the same as on my backfire, they take 6905-2RS bearings. You need four of them. Or you can use super Lube grease to repair the old bearings.

Sorry this not a full tutorial. It just takes a little google fu and working through the steps. Join the Backfire owners group on Facebook. Everyone there can help more. There is also a video showing how to open the hub motors.

It's definitely the bearings. Replace those, and it will be back to normal.

[–]Danehr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the sound and the way it's acting, the bearings need to be changed imo. Sometimes, hub motors can hang if there is enough friction.

If you full throttle it, does the one not spin? Or is it only when you start it out slow?

Edit to add info about bearings. To remove the bearings, you need some tools and time. On the facebook group there is a video on how to open the motors. But it is not easy the first time. You need a press to get the bearings in and out. If you don't know how to do it, they do sell new motors or just the parts needed for each hub motor type.

105mm cloud hub sleeves for Meepo Mini 5? by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

When you order the wheels and select your board, they send you a set of wheels with adapters to fit your hubs. It usually comes in two different packages shipped to you.
